US border patrol is checking people’s Facebook for political views

Border agents are searching refugee’s Facebook accounts to ascertain their religious and political beliefs, according to Mana Yegani of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Ms. Yegani told The Intercept that some of those she has consulted – despite having valid visas – have been interrogated by border agents about their political beliefs before being allowed into the country.

“These are people that are coming in legally. They have jobs here and they have vehicles here,” she said. “Just because Trump signed something at 6pm yesterday, things are coming to a crashing halt. It’s scary.”


This is so ridiculous. People who have jobs and lives here are not being allowed to cross the border. These people are paying taxes here!

i know its harsh but there is a price that always has to be paid for radical irresponsibility. I expect to be inconvenienced at times and am fine with that.

there is a lot of things that need fixing.

example.....20 percent tariff on Mexican goods passed to the consumer? I guess its a little irritating but we need that wall among other additional actions.

I think its a little juvenile to think its going to be easy from here on out. we are in for tough times ahead. Those of you in very rural areas or inner cities need to cover yourself. Things are going to get hot quickly. i suggest dumping your little pocket autos and getting comfortable with some real firepower to protect yourself and know your surroundings. its not the time to let your guard down.

i have gotten into this hitler stuff before on here. I am no neo nazi ...whatever but I love history and in particular WW1 through Vietnam world History. Hitler's life story is pretty incredible. Stalin's was too. Hitler had a hellish childhood and then lived on the streets painting trying to scrape by. He was also won the Iron Cross. He wasnt just some crazy maniac. Germany was getting absolutely raped after WW1 and hitler wanted to bring germany back to prosperity. he did well for a while and then just kept wanting more until he overreached a bit and got caught in some bad military decisions. what sticks to my mind is going into russia and getting caught in the winter with improper gear.

but there are virtually no similarities with Hitler and trump of any relevance. Hitler was stealing power with all kinds of tricks and dubious acts in his own government. He was killing political opponents. he wasnt negotiating trade deals he was invading and taking territory. and other countries were just letting him do it. how you draw comparisons to Trump and Hitler is beyond me. Trump is completely opposite of hitler. It just shows ignorance of history.

Check out some of these people in history they are really interesting and will make you realize what sheer beasts they were. They were very very tough. nobody even comes close today. also....Rommel, Patton, MacArthur, Kennedy, kruschtev etc. etc. The stuff will blow your mind. If you dont read there are lots of good documentaries out there. I can recommend some.

Well since I personally have no Facebook account,or are associated with any social
media outlets,I´ll take that as meaning that I can simply skate on by.
Btw,Trump already said that he wants people that love the US and all that it stands for.
Be it past or present.
And maybe this is simply what he meant by "extreme vetting" procedures.
Or allow Border Patrol agents etc. to actually perform their job duties they were intended
to be performed,and by giving these agencies more powers and less restraints.

Unless you are old--like 60+--that would probably give them greater pause TBH. Don't know about border patrols specifically, but I know for certain that the unknowns scare some agencies far more than the knowns. They would see that as you meticulously hiding what you are really up to, especially the younger you are.
