I see your point, but I am not entirely sure you are right.

There certainly is a segment of American society that is racist.
Some are the stereotypical racists (regardless of their race). These people certainly support your point.


However, some of the racists are the Al Sharpton/BLM/La Raza variety, complete with good intentions and a keen sense of injustice. Many of these people hide from their racism by insisting that only White people can be racist (by insisting only those in power can be racist). I think this particular sub-segment of society is where we see some of the belief (among those who hold it) that it is racist to criticize a minority. This certainly supports the point of the original poster.

This attitude is often applied to people who criticize cultural behaviors by people who are too poorly educated or too unintelligent to understand the difference between race and culture. For example, the observation that a disproportionate number of Black people are high school dropouts, criminals, and raised by single parents. This is an observation about culture, not race. People who misunderstand this either assume the genetics cause the behavior, or assume the person who made the statement could not possibly have been talking about learned cultural behavior (and therefor must be a racist).

Much of the problem is exacerbated by a widespread American value that there is virtue immediately conferred on someone who is the victim of an injustice, even if it is only a perceived injustice. We saw it with Michael Brown in Ferguson, for example. Brown was a strong-arm robber who tried to grab a cop's gun, yet achieved the status of virtuous victim, by being shot while unarmed.

This virtuous victim phenomenon explains some of what the original poster is talking about.

You don't need anyone else's permission to criticize. If you feel that way, then you are probably a little white guilt-ish. I personally have no problem criticizing blacks or hispanics, even in their presence. Allegations of isms and phobias by someone directed at me largely are amusing to me.

 

So do you consider yourself a Republican? Who did you vote for the primary? Either one if you're not a Republican.

 

I dont think it has anything to do with skin colour. I mean, if there is an albino black person (who has pale, lilly-white skin), he'd be attacking him/her, too. So it has to do with race, not skin colour.

And there is nothing wrong with criticizing a race. If people from any particular race do something wrong disproportionately, it is appropriate to call them out. Don't be afraid of being called a racist. That is the liberals' bullying tactic.
