The United States government on Friday eighty-sixed the nomination of Salam Fayyad, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister from 2007 to 2013, to be the next United Nations special representative to Libya.

According to the NY Times, the Trump Administration’s objection had to the with the fact that there is no such thing as a Palestinian state.

US envoy at the UN, Nikki Haley, said in a statement that the Trump administration “was disappointed” that UN secretary-general, António Guterres had already announced to the Security Council his appointment of Fayyad, seeing as it would make much better sense for the UN to be represented by diplomats from real countries, not imaginary ones.

Haley said that “For too long the UN has been unfairly biased in favor of the Palestinian Authority to the detriment of our allies in Israel,” adding that “the United States does not currently recognize a Palestinian state or support the signal this appointment would send within the United Nations.” Therefore, “Going forward, the United States will act, not just talk, in support of our allies.”

Danny Danon, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, said in a statement: “This is the beginning of a new era at the U.N. The United States stands firmly and unapologetically beside Israel.”

Wow, just (*)(*)(*)(*)ing WOW I can not imagine a bigger slap on the face of Palestinians and their misguided supporters than to publically call their imaginary country for what it is - imaginary. Which is exactly what it is - until Palestinians negotiate with Israel for it, and without ridiculous preconditions.

Well, this is exactly why Trump was voted in for - to chew bubblegum and take names.

And he's all out of bubblegum :clapping:

I doubted it when I first heard about it but yes , I think Donald Trump will be on Mount Rushmore. They might even rename it to Trump Mountain .

All countries are technically imaginary. There are no lines drawn on the earth, no governments ordained by nature.

That's a fact. The appointment has nothing to do with Israel
Now we have to adapt to having American racism back in the world's spotlights.

On analysis- the new US administration just gulped a tainted bait.
That's what happens, by this evidence, when the top US politician is not a politician at all. Just an imaginary politician.

The words racist and racism are being so incorrectly and over used that they are losing their power.

Anyone who disagrees with progressives is a racist, regardless of the actual reason for the disagreement. Soon, no one will care anymore.

Will this be the same "Strong USA" like the Obama government in the United Nations. Samantha Powers screaming at Vitaly Churkin over the Syrian war "Are you not ashamed!"

Or will the Trump government behave more professionally.

You mean your only one left, Israel and it is the US which is giving her people up for her - oh and your Christian Zionists of course.

The Insanity continues, Tzipi Livni a woman who recently had to cancel her trip to Belgium where she is wanted for arrest over war crimes and who the British Goverment has to make exceptions for her to visit as she is also wanted by the courts for that here, has been offered a senior role to offset that of Fayyed.

That's a viewpoint which suits racists admirably.

It's usually useful to consult progressive Israelis on such matters- and not to listen to degenerate neoZionist megaphones.

Only one left? Only one that ever was. Is all that is necessary, really.

That's a marked deterioration in grammar, Meg.

British soldiers who gave their lives for you would be pretty disgusted at your attitude.

You surely didn't think that megaphones get a free pass, did you ? I haven't seen any signs saying ' Internet scourges welcomed ' .
For most people it's a duty to restrict the spread of fascism, not to spread it.
