Think there will be any liberals praising their right to free speech for this one? I'm sure the war has already started against this movie house. Death threats, public assaults, anything to keep them silent and compliant. Are we a free nation or are we a nation slave to the special interests of the gay community? Or will this be a repeat of the assaults on bakeries and wedding photographers?

A drive-in theater in northeast Alabama said it will not show Disney's Beauty and the Beast because it features a homosexual character.

The Henagar Drive-In Theatre in DeKalb County posted on its Facebook page on Thursday night.

"If we cannot take our 11-year-old granddaughter and 8-year-old grandson to see a movie, we have no business watching it," the theater posted on its Facebook page. "If I can't sit through a movie with God or Jesus sitting by me then we have no business showing it."

The theater's Facebook page, as of late Friday afternoon, no longer accessible. AL.com has been in contact with the theater owners but they have not yet commented about not showing the movie.

There's nothing wrong, bigoted, "racist" or in fact homophobic about not wanting public displays of homosexuality. I don't like and I know I'm not some kind of freak of nature (yeah, I know I'm leaving an open goal there <<MOD EDIT - Rule 3 - Flamebaiting>>, but whatever).

There will be gay demonstrators bussed in from Alaska to Virginia. There will be a **** storm, because once you set a precedent there's no going back. You can be sure there'll be a lawsuit. Gays won't take this lying down.

Sounds like a lame drive in. No movies with scenes that include homosexual's, no movies with nude scenes, no movies with sex scenes. Pretty much excludes most movies these days.

And there is nothing racist about it either. This is something the LGBT community loves to push because if they can equate homosexuality to race they can ride the coat tails of the civil rights movement but I've never seen anyone from one race claim they are another at the drop of a hat and anyone being stupid enough to believe them.

    Well except for these folks.

Perhaps they are referring to a Disney movie that is usually targeting young children, G rated or even PG rated.

If they are not obligated by contractual arrangement to show all movies they do not need a reason not to show it.

I don't know how the business works, but they'll find an angle.

This bit, however, sets my teeth on edge:

When I find myself allied with this level of caveman religious ignorance I start to panic. But I guess I'll just have to take that one on the chin.

Since when is being anti gay a "racist" ? Even if they were prejudiced against a Black guy who happened to be gay that is not racism.

"Racist" is the new knee jerk reaction from the left, whether the accusation fits or not. Everyone is racist if they don't agree with you.

Incidentally Lloyds bank bosses have gone nuts and are trying to project the "gay marriage is normal" thing by including these two characters in their TV advert-

    And on their website-

I really don't know what your point is there. I'm not sure it's much relevant to the topic, but feel free to clarify.

individuals not wanting to sit through a movie that they wouldn't watch if they knew their God was sitting next to them causes you to panic ?
Personal liberty must be very scary.

I think you know what I meant and I don't want to go off on a pointless tangent. When I see people invoking irrational religious belief I shake my head in despair. When I find myself allied with them, even though it's for other reasons (in my case it's nothing to do with religion, it's to do with me finding public homosexual displays repugnant), yes, I start to worry, because I start to wonder if at some level I'm sharing in their irrationality.

However, on this subject (public homosexuality) I'm confident in the rationality if my gut reaction. I do not think there is anything out of the ordinary about aversion to this. But I'm not about to go scuttling off down this religious rabbit hole any further.

You may call it irrational but they don't. I personally don't listen to what a book tells me about being gay but that is their belief and the belief of Jews and Muslims as well and unlike homosexuality its actually mentioned as protected in the Constitution.

Remember the scene in Crocodile Dundee when he's trying to talk a suicide jumper out of it?

    Jumper: "I loved that b*tch!!"

Mick Dundee: "Yeah, I know mate."

    Jumper: "...and he betrayed me!!"

    Mick Dundee: "he????????"

Then almost falls off the building in horror.

You know, back when people were normal and expressed normal reactions.

Hand out job applications to all protestors, and they will quickly disperse.

So will this drive-in get sued into oblivion like bakers who refuse to bake a cake?

I don't see how, they are denying the movie to all patrons not just one specific group. If they would have said "we are only showing a movie to heterosexuals" then there would potentially be legal issues.

Y'all really struggle with how this all works don't you?
