College students and liberals in general certainly have changed in my life time. Back in the 60s college students and colleges in general said the students and the colleges were the place where ALL and any opinions were allowed to be freely exchanges. Now college students and liberals are the most closed minded people in the country.

Nowodays liberals and feminists are the unworthy sons of their parents. However, if we have similar problems here in France, it absolutely didn't reached that level.

So how many college campuses have you visited and college students have you spoken with recently?

What you say may be true, but I'd like to know your evidence (other than the media(mainstream, conservative or fake), which tells the story it wants to tell)

My guess is quite a few. We only hear about it when there's trouble.

You obviously didn't go to college in the late sixties when all the best and brightest were united against the Vietnam war.

I agree, but it's not just college students who are intolerant. Everybody seems to be less tolerant are more partisan these days.

As a Democrat, I see the Republicans as much more partisan, but that's my viewpoint....

This is why I call the modern liberal, a faux liberal. It is an aberration of liberalism, to say it mildly. It has little in common with the liberals of the 60s and early 70s. A faux liberal is not anti war, where the older liberalism were. A faux liberal wants to shout down any speech except their own, and do not believe in free speech. They could not care less that it is the speech you do not agree with that needed the protection, and the right.

Faux liberalism isn't liberalism, nor does it believe that working people have to be protected from slave labor overseas. This turns it into a very elitist group, which are basically upper middle class professionals, and then the upper class, and have divorced themselves from the common man, who they look down upon, perhaps in fear they might end up like that.

I was one of those 1960s free love hippy liberals. As soon as I did my military service, I joined in the demonstrations and activism against this war for elite profits. I believe in liberalism, for I saw it as a force for good, which I still think in that manner. But this is a world apart from faux liberalism, this bastardization, and these thieves just hijacked the word. I doubt most are intelligent enough to know what genuine liberalism even looks like. I have seen so many man on the street interviews, asking college kids civics questions. 99.9 percent of the college kids in the 60s could have aced these little on the street tests. Not the case anymore. Frankly, I ask, how can these college kids really have an education, outside of their core subject? Of course not all fail these tests, but the fact that you can find 10 to flunk them is absurd. These are the kind of people who become faux liberals. The educated uneducated, or the, as Bernard Shaw once said, the half mis-educated. And it seems this thing we call common sense is mighty sparse with these kids.

Faux liberals tend to resort to name calling, instead of presenting a rational reasonable argument You see that in spades on forums where they just insult, somehow thinking this how to discuss an issue. It appears that instead of being taught HOW to think, they have been taught WHAT to think, conditioned, indoctrinated, in a belief system which began with a disconnect from reality itself. Throwing out the door, what it took humanity thousands of years to learn, from trial and error, from failures and success, sometimes with the cost being human life. In great numbers. Their unicorn and rainbows thoughts and ideas, can only live via the disconnect from reality, and throwing away what it took thousands of years for humanity to learn. What humanity learned and the faux liberals are ignorant of, is just the way and tremendous power of human nature. That you cannot change its most powerful aspects, simply by changing the environment. For human nature will take any such system, and corrupt it, making it unworkable. You see this with socialism and communism. The reason it failed was because human nature does not fit with it. So human nature corrupted it, insuring it would fail.

The days of playing world policeman need to end, it neither ends well nor can we afford it. Global welfare has got to stop. However, if some 3rd world hacks decide to threaten our mainland, turn them into glass or send covert mercenaries to remove a tyrant. However, this conventional warfare killing our own and pouring billions of dollars into a black hole has GOT to stop.

There are prominent political societies on my campus who equate pet ownership with slavery. Some people are completely loony, and most of them get this out of their system at college.

Apparently there aren't many conservatives who have the wherewithal to get into a good college. Unless, of course, if one wishes to attend a Christian college. They are easy to get into and one can spout their conservative lunacy to one's content.

Yes, we withdrew. And then Southeast Asia became a massive bloodbath with millions killed. And the freedom-loving people of South Vietnam were left to suffer under a communist regime.

Those people look different than us. They weren't worth fighting for.

During the 1960s Georgia and the rest of the country experienced an increase in student activism on its college campuses and in its cities. Opposed to U.S. political leadership and dissatisfied with American culture, student
    [IMG]Vietnam War Protest
activists held demonstrations across the state and experimented with lifestyle changes in the hope of effecting fundamental change in American life.
The student movement, also called the New Left because it represented the latest manifestation of left-leaning political activism, gained converts on campuses across the nation throughout the decade. In Georgia several schools maintained chapters of national and regional student organizations, such as Students for a Democratic Society and the Southern Student Organizing Committee (SSOC). Georgia student leaders often looked to the national New Left for guidance and inspiration. Georgia student activists who joined the civil rights and student movements routinely risked arrest and physical harm, as well as alienation from their more conservative friends and families.

Back in the 60's they were alienated by the conservatives and risking arrests if they do organized protests.

The totalitarian fascist type environment was well within academia in the 80s....except I don't remember people tolerating violence like they do now. The problem arises when you have liberals who graduate from these places and then go into government and have no true "American" experience. For example the Mayor of Berkley that seems to see destruction of property as free speech. Most graduates find out the errors of progressive indocrination after they've been in the workforce for a while. My kids are getting close to college age and I won't have them afflicted with the same experience I went thru.

LOL...........didn't know you were still in college. If so you are WAY advanced above the current snowflakes on current university campuses. You are wiser than your years. I've read a lot of your posts and agree with many. My nephews and nieces just graduated, they are effing idiots, and brainwashed. Walking Dead. I'll preface saying this that I was always rebellious growing up, but a snowflake never and hated my efftard safe space college professors. They could never tell me from being one of their kind, long hair and sandals in the classroom, but I played the game and buffaloed their stupid asses and graduated with honors. lol
I will say I still feel the same way in some regards. I don't GAF about "human rights" in other countries. They need to nut up and take care of themselves. We are not Mr Rogers and they are NOT our problem.
Maybe we can send them a big Barney doll and video that explodes upon opening if that helps them cope. Eff all of them and the camel they rode in on...........or ganga stick, whichever.

Crap Steady you got me off tangent and made me lose my train of thought. lol................(old age dementia, but not of the snowflake fatal illness like we've seen from the zombie sheep). :D

What's with this butthurt society of snowflakes who think they can BS the country with companion pets? What a bunch of pansy pusswahs! WTF? The first time I heard about this crap was from a woman whose son couldn't take his piece of chit dog and rent an apartment he wanted to rent. So this ******bag played that card to get in and take his fleabitten POS with him. I told that woman he was a flake. She got mad at me, and I then told her to kiss my ass. It was a happy ending in my book. :D
