But America is best known for being the follower of other nations. Now. We used to lead the world in new technologies and advancement. But conservatives have taken over and now it's back to lamplights and whale oil.
The understatement of the century. China is cleaning our clock in the clean energy industry and innovation where the USA used to be leaders. Disgusting! Embarrassing!
http://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=16271 China may be developing clean energy, but it's coal consumpion, as illustrated by Beijings smog, remains insatiable. This is the US in contrast. http://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=25252 You'll note Ukraine bought very little US coal, but I'm quite certain that market is about to "explode" ... pardon the pun.
Depending upon when you check the EIA the speculations on the demand growth for coal, both domestic use and export, are up. Sometimes they predict its up by a little, sometimes by a little more. Coal cant last forever but its what we have now and until a functional, efficient, cost effective, alternative is ready for deployment we shouldn't make things harder for ourselves. People aren't going to reject technology, we love it too much, but until we get something that works attacking fossil fuel energy serves only to amp up the "feels" in AGW hysteria types, to hurt people financially, and to damage the nations economy. What a coincidence it is that radical liberalism thrives on feels, thrives on people who are financially crippled, and believes in a world-wide super-government where all nations are equally weak.
Well, it didn't happen. You're just making (*)(*)(*)(*) up again. US solar industry now employs more workers than oil and gas, says report
Not only that, but ... Advanced Black Lung Cases Surge In Appalachia How on earth people can romanticize coal mining as a "good" job is beyond me.
Even if it doesn't equal, I'd argue that it's worth the development. I mean considering the percentage of electricity still being generated through coal.
We should be transitioning away from coal, not toward it. It might look like a win, but is actually a loss. Coal mining was meant for the age of horse-trotting buggies, and before ham radio. Coal mining was meant for when Andrew Carnegie was still alive. Why people want to continue messing with a dinosaur gas is beyond me. Anyone who aspires to be a coal miner needs to have their aspirations given a boost.
if the green energy tycoons don't like pollution, they will have to create high paying solar panel jobs so the people will switch from oil and gas to wind and solar work. i agree that green energy is the future, but the free market has proven it still is not competitive since President Trump will remove the regulations and allow them to compete again.
China is also investing hundreds of billions of dollars in addressing her pollution problems. America? Not so much; and, yes, it is deeply embarrassing that Trump is taking a cynical retrograde step to secure votes, while at the same time playing politics with the health of US citizens. Bad, so bad. But nobody will care just as long as they can say he kept his promise, no matter how poorly thought-out it is.
Good for you. It seems most of those that are posting for fossil fuels and against green energy never worked near or in a coal mine or any chemical plant or anything such as this in their lives. They may have a different outlook if they were there once.
I agree it's not on par with conventional energy sources, but that's more of a matter of Time then anything. And coal will get a last gasp out of Trump, and perhaps with that might come more efficiences, but realistically coal as a major job creator is done with.
What a lot of people don't consider is that coal doesn't just cause pollution and ruin the land when it's mined, it then causes more problems when processed such as what we saw in WV a while back when a third of the state lost it's water supply due to a coal washing chemical leaking, and then there's the pollution created when it's burned and the coal ash disposal left over from that. It's just not worth it on any level.
Either they choose to ignore the by products and the over burden, or they have never bothered to check. Mining is a very dirty industry.
Load of bull crap a mountain high. The demand for coal has not increased by more than 1% and tag long term projections are weak.
What was bullcrap? Obama & Clinton first time around, vowed just that, the cripple the coal industry thing. Second time around, Obama touted his progress in that area. Growth & current projected, is largely due to the facts stated above.
you should read before you opine, would make you look so much more relevant. Ever heard of Solyndra? Google it. If you think this country or any other major world country is going to go "green" anytime soon I have bridge connecting NJ with NYC I'll give you a great deal on. AND We "exported" over 40 million tons of coal last year, so my guess is if we don't mine it these customers will go elsewhere. OR Is your theory that they will instead say, oh well no US coal so let's build wind farms and solar panels instead. You make that happen I'm on your team captain buttercup
Your just operating with bad information. When the Obama government talks about "coal demand" they're talking about US coal, not coal period. A large portion of US coal is exported. Anti-coal anti-business legislation makes exporting US coal expensive. So in turn the Obama administration was able to say that "the demand for [US] coal is down" much the same way that Walmart would be able to say "the demand for Pepsi is down" after raising the price of a 2-liter to $10. Always be questioning the information you are given and how it was assembled ...especially when it comes from government.
