Yep. Stretch the header. Looks all sterile up there...

At the top of the page is a search box. Click it to expand the box. The text labels in the pop-up search box has become invisible.

Now, at the bottom of the post, the quote feature is a multi-quote only link. Can we have both quote and multi-quote?

Edit: never mind I stopped seeing Reply for a moment. My fault not the forum's.

Yick, that menus colour change to grey at the top doesn't work, personally. Feels like I've gone colour blind. Green etc was loads better.

Put dairyair on ignore, start reading here and tell me it doesn't make ChrisL look like a loon.

Well yeah. With vB's "soft" ignore feature, you'd see dairyair's quotes even though he's on ignore, and you'd know ChrisL isn't talking to herself; whereas with this "hard" ignore feature, to have any idea what she's talking about, you have to defeat the whole purpose of the ignore feature by clicking Show Ignored Content.

Ah! OK, yeah... definitely see the point. I never use ignore, because i need to see every post - so, I don't really have any experience with the practical aspects of how the feature works. That's the sort of thing you need to see live. Thanks. You picked a good example.

So... having said that... let us kick this around in the Staff forum. I see why Xen designed it to do that way, but sometimes simpler works better. My inclination is that you're right on the money, but I want to give staff a chance to weigh in case I'm missing something. They have a much better feel than I do for the day to day pulse of the forum.

But thanks a lot. Appreciate it. Are you liking it any better yet?

I'm not the one who made that change, so I'm not absolutely positive I'm looking at what you're talking about, but I'm guessing you mean that the grey menu bar used to be more greenish and easier to read. I don't specifically recall how it looked before, but yeah - I can see that as of now, the contrast is sub-optimal.

We will fix that, but it may be a few days. At this point, I think we need to just make a list of all the display tweaks and implement them all at once, wholistically, instead of a piece at a time. Please bear with us on this one, OK?

    Good ideas; thanks.

For the time being, we decided to center the logo and leave it there as a placeholder. We have plans for the use of that space a little later on, as we implement some other things.

    Experimenting here....

Edit: well, that didn't work. Let me try something else. Previous poster was right, it's the rich text editor, it should be a lot easier to work around. I tried turning off rich text editor, and it looked as though it reformatted in plain text, but then when I posted the formatting remained. Let me try something else.

Edit: OK, I found an easy and obvious workaround, but it's a bit of a pain in the ass, and requires more steps than I want to put people through. So we'll have to figure a way to make this really easy for everyone. It's in there, I just haven' found it yet. I'll dig into it later tonight after I get caught up with forum posts and PMs; just skimming over the easy ones at the moment.

Now - what I did to fix that was, instead of copying the text and pasting it directly into Xenforo, I pasted it into a text editor. I used Word, I'm sure any would do. I then highlighted the text in Word, then selected "copy" again (thus clearing the original, formatted text from my clipboard.)

I then pasted the re-copied version of the text into Xen, and posted. Copying directly into a text editor, then re-copying, stripped the formatting code from the original text.

If for some reason that doesn't work for you, let me know. Meanwhile, I will probably find a simpler solution within Xen tonight, and let y'all know.

As for me tbe simple text, turning off the rich text, is fine except that text is about a 2p and needs to be 4 or 5. Copying into another editor and then copying that way to much work.

AHHH Ok I actually created a new thread with the Rich Text unchecked and the box comes up but I have no formatting options now, none of the B I U buttons that I would normally use to highlight phrases. I did manually type in the "" and the "" and got the headline in the text to be bolded.

Just highlight the text, in the Rich text editor, and click the Remove Formatting button.

Probably have to either add code, if the close thread option on the mod/admin panels does this. That or set up a view only sub forum.

I learned this one the hard way. Also found the proper way to handle it. Thanks for your input

Thank You :blowkiss: for additional emoticons. With :oldman: too.

Could we please have numbers by the uploads? I do miss that feature.

I was liking it a lot better when "click to expand" was still enabled. Other than that I'd say it's at least as good as good as the vB version, though I'd like to be able to search within threads.

I see you've solved the background colour clash with the logo, which is a lot better (not sure exactly how you did that). I'm not convinced it wouldn't sit better on the left even if it leaves a big blank on the right. The white posting backround against the very light grey ( as I see it) overall background is a tad glaring, but I think it's aesthetically better than the old forum. You might try darkening just a fraction the post background white. When I put my laptop screen at a slight angle it darkens everything by degrees, and a bit of darkening helps, at least from my end.

I'll also reiterate my agreement with the full quote (without expand) setup, as it currently is.

I may have missed someone else mention it but there doesn’t seem to be a link to the forum rules anywhere obvious on the new layout. I don’t actually remember where it was on the old one but I do know it was easy to get to if you wanted to.

    @Dark Star

I still get logged out sometimes for no apparent reason. I just made a post and then it logged me out. It doesn't happen all the time though.

Should I click the box that says to keep me logged in until I'm ready to log out?

If that kept happening to me I'd get all paranoid; I'd think it was PF's way of telling me I'm no longer welcome. :omg: Well anyone would if they'd been kicked off as many boards as I have! :hmm: (can't find blankstare so this'll have to do!)
