BOB WOODWARD: Obama Officials Could Face Criminal Charges For Leaking Trump Surveillance:

The Washington Post’s Bob Woodward warned on Wednesday that there are people from the Obama administration who could be facing criminal charges for unmasking the names of Trump transition team members from surveillance of foreign officials.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., said earlier that he had briefed Trump on new information, unrelated to an investigation into Russian activities, that suggested that several members of Trump’s transition team and perhaps Trump himself had their identities “unmasked” after their communications were intercepted by U.S. intelligence officials.

The revelation is notable because identities of Americans are generally supposed to remain “masked” if American communications are swept up during surveillance of foreign individuals.

Furthermore what the OP is missing is that this only goes to prove that members of the Trump cabal were routinely in contact with the Russians which is why they showed up on routine surveillance of foreign communications.

 

I can understand that there is major disappointment on the part of his supporters but how could they not have seen scandal coming from the guy whose entire life has been nefarious. But then, as they were NOT THE FOCUS OF THE SURVEILLANCE, their names and conversations are to be REDACTED, according to the law. But, lo and behold, they were not only NOT REDACTED, they were "unmasked" and the DATA SHARED. through "MULTIPLE SOURCES" according to Senate Intell Committee Chair, Nunes, who has the transcripts, as he has read them, as he has already stated. That action, which served no intel or criminal objective, is what we call a "FEDERAL FELONY", here in the Real World.

He will be proving these to the DOJ, at the proper time.

I have to side with the Liberals here. Until there is some proof offered up, this is all just talk. I am open to proof, but until I see/hear it; I have to go with what is in front of me.

I will say there is a real problem with the "unmasking" of U.S. Citizens / Officials that is a felony, but not on Barack Obama, but on intelligence officials and perhaps some bureaucrats and appointed officials.

 

Except that unmasking Trump's ties with the Russians serves a vital national security interest since these same people would be serving in the Whitehouse and have access to top secret information. It was of the utmost importance that We the People be made aware of this risk to our security.

No one is going to be charged with a federal felony given what was at stake and even if there is a partisan attempt to bring them to trial no jury of their peers would convict them under the circumstances.
