A senior Naval source told the Mirror: "Hypersonic missiles are virtually unstoppable. The whole idea of the carrier is the ability to project power. But with no method of protecting themselves against missiles like the Zircon the carrier would have to stay out of range, hundreds of miles out at sea. Its planes would be useless and the whole basis of a carrier task force would be redundant."

 

The US does have a mechanism to stop this kind of missile and any other moving object that is traveling at a speed of up to 70,000 miles per hour.

Raytheon has installed some of these systems on US surface ships, but they can also be installed on large helicopters.

Well there has to be 'an enemy', virtual or otherwise, to stir up the required nationalism needed to get mass public support for war, and with this persistent and apparently suicidal anti-Russia neurosis, I now feel there's going to be one. I also sense that Putin has prepared for it, and if the US kicks it off, Washington and the Pentagon are going to be in for a big surprise. An analogy would a school playground scenario - the bully-boy (viz. the good ol' US of A) throws his weight around then suddenly one of the other kids (Russia) unexpectedly gives the bully-boy a bloody nose, and he runs away crying to his momma. Actually I wish this could be enacted in a way which would give the war-mongering loonies pause for thought - a metaphorical 'shot across the bows' of some kind or another - to head off the nuclear holocaust before it's too late.

What's so surprising? We have NATO bases all around our borders. Last time we had so much military there - they one day just went in without a warning, singing "Doichen Zoldaten" and slaughtering our people.
