I used to until I discovered delay spray.

But seriously, yes maybe the USA oversteps it's bounds some, but SOMEONE has to lead the world. Look how ****ed up these countries like North Korea are.

And yes, we have been in a permanent wartime economy since WWII, but what's the alternative? Let the Soviet Union do it?

It's very debatable how much we were forced into this role and how much we took advantage of it. There has never been a nation in the history of the world that didn't look after it's own interests.

USA should look after it's interests at home...the country has become as cesspool of filth...try walking down the streets in the cities of Detroit, Chicago or anyother large US city, even in the daytime, and see what i mean...drugs, gangs, and every sort of filth imageinable...and you think other countries need change of governments? Bullsh.t...leave other countries alone and clean up your own backyard.

Without starting a debate about race....

    Never mind. I'll just stop.

Historically, multiethnic nations don't last. They are torn apart at the seams.

not if the nation has certain shared values. Ultimately Canadian values prevailed in the face of our own ethnic nationalist challenge. We accept all ethnicities and feel enriched by the exposure without fear that our national values will be assailed from within.

Well you don't have violent, angry people with guns at the core of every city.

there is no doubt about the greatness of America. Its list of achievements is phenomenal and however screwed up it may seem at this particular moment in time, it has been a beacon of liberty and democracy for so many. I remember the cold war when the majority of nations were not free democracies, things have changed dramatically over the years.

OTOH, America also has a huge list of sins to go along with all those accomplishments. It comes with the territory and the fact that when you are playing for keeps, rules need not apply as far as the opponent is concerned which of course prompts all kinds of dirty tricks in response.

I agree that every nation looks after its own self interest, but in most nations that does not mean to the exclusion of others, as trump et.al. seems to be advocating. Its not a binary situation.

The answer to your observations is that he thinks Assad is the leader of Iran - truly frightening

Yes, I was referring to the Pequiste efforts to secede. As to our colonial past, its not relevant in the doings of our contemporary society, but correcting the historic mistreatment is. Pushback? yeah the streets of full of anti-refugees/immigrant Canadians protesting.

Show the post where I made that claim, prove it.

If anything, I would have correctly stated the opposite - assad is a puppet proxy of iran.

LOL, they aren't yet, but don't need to - Canada is ALREADY a VERY tough country to enter as a refugee. Those hypocrites whining about the US' changing position from an open door to a more rational approach seem to forget that.

But give it time; people in France said there was no possibility Le Pen could EVER reach her current level of popularity.

There is a difference between bad intel and lies. I will grant that they chose to go with weak evidence in conjunction with a decade of bad behavior. I will not grant you that the the US fabricated sufficient evidence to deceive the entire world.

The US is expected to be world police and world financier. I'm all for the US giving that role to someone else. Maybe China or Russia will do it.

If the US wanted to "enslave" the world, we would. Its not like anyone could stop us.

Which is why we have only taken in 48,000 syrian refugees. We believe in our system of "vetting".

those hypocrites whining about a more fear driven bigoted white nationalist approach seem to forget that.

yeah fascists can always appeal to the "us vs them" mentality of bigots and nationalists. Gotta have an "alien enemy" to fear and focus on.[/QUOTE]

When I see posts like the one that started this thread I'm reminded how happy I am that democrats have been kicked to the curb by Americans.

They're more worried about the rights of transexuals and all the horrible things that white people do.
