As I said, weak minded idiots.
All the guys I knew who got into drugs were the local pointless cretins who were useless to society anyway. Their trial and death (After a couple of chances to get out) would hardly be a loss.

Well I was stupid enough to have my first cigarette, and I don't consider myself to be stupid! But then I was quite young, too, and we all make mistakes when we're young.

Almost everyone has heard for decades that tobacco is addictive...but peer pressure back then was impossible, and it was still considered "cool" to smoke back then..

The American Indians used it sensibly, though. IMO it probably does improve the ability to concentrate.

 

Not for those with a working brain. I told the smokers to sod off because I knew pretty much how stupid they were.
Those with weaker minds allowed themselves to be manipulated.

I managed to work out socialism was stupid as soon as I started to meet socialists. They were all as thick as pudding, none being able to see the likely results of their stupidity so I joined a realistic political party, the Conservatives.

I say piss on addicts and repurpose dealers, no one forced anybody to do a drug, therefor only those who do should be punished. With no one to sell to, dealers will go away, supply and demand. Not to mention a dealer can be repurposed.

 

And only Trump gives a reach around.

I don't think it has to be an either-or. Some people in this thread seem to be wanting to place the blame entirely on the drug dealers, while painting drug abusers as innocent victims who bear no responsibility for their own mistakes. I say, go after dealers and addicts both. (And quit giving addicts a free pass with the victim card.)

 

I used to think like that but they are weak minded morons so perhaps it would be better to lock them away to go cold turkey a couple of times first in the hope of curing their stupidity.
If that doesn't work, a mandatory death sentence is fine by me.

 

I would add - the very lowest bottom-of-the-barrel addicts are going to find something to get their 'fix' no matter what. If we remove the dealers of drug A, they'll move on to drug B. Remove the dealers of drug B, and they'll move on to drug C. Next thing you know, they are huffing spray paint from the Walmart. So should we lock up all of the spray paint dealers?

 

As a note, one of the reasons I softened up my views about addicts was meeting a bunch here who had been cured and spent their time in mosques giving anti drugs talks to local kids, but not the usual crappy stuff you get here, more a harsh hit of reality about the life a drug addict endures.
That, and a few other reasons, is why I would give them a chance to stop being stupid.
