Before WW1.. Yes. I don't think you can read. I was speaking of the French losses in WW1 and how few men survived to marry and have children.

You need to stop, because you sure as hell don't know what you're talking about. Between post ww1, and their defeat by the Germans, the French had the largest Army in Europe. It wasn't a demographics problem that led to the French being defeated by the Germans. The French had a WW1 defensive mindset, while the Germans had perfected mobile warfare. Incompetence at the highest levels of the French military led to the defeat of the French military.

Further more, at anytime prior to 1938, the French had more than ample opportunity to have rolled into Germany, and stop Hitler in his tracks. Germany's flagrant violations of the Treaty of Versailles, was justification enough to do so. I understand there was no political will after the horrors of WW1, but humanity paid a bigger price due to inaction during WW2.

I can't imagine the French starting a war as you suggest they "could have"... especially over the Treaty of Versailles which was overly punitive to begin with.

From the end of WW1 to the outbreak of WW2, France maintained a army of 900,000, with 5 million reservist.
I don't blame the French, but they certainly had the manpower, and ability to nip Hitler's militarism in the bud early on. His flagrant violations of Versailles was justification for such a action.
