The incompetence/criminality of James Comey becomes more obvious every day.

Now, even his own peers are remarking on it:

'None of it makes much sense': Experts are baffled by Comey's use of a fake Russian document to skirt the DOJ

Former FBI, CIA, and Justice Department officials say they are baffled by reports that a fake Russian document affected former FBI Director James Comey's handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server.
CNN reported Friday that Comey knew the document — a memo purporting to show collusion between Loretta Lynch, who was then the attorney general, and the Clinton campaign — was fake. That has raised questions about why he used it as justification to skirt the Department of Justice and hold a press conference last summer in which he skewered Clinton for her "extremely careless" use of a private email server while she was secretary of state and defended the bureau's decision not to recommend charges.

"In cases where there is intelligence suspected of being false, the correct procedure is to investigate," said Scott Olson, a recently retired FBI agent who ran the agency's counterintelligence operations and spent more than 20 years at the bureau.

And now, revelations of the illegal spying/unmasking Comey was up yo his neck in.

Why do you care that Comey was too harsh on Clinton?

He already said Trump "pressured him" =/= obstruction. Will he be speaking from behind the drapes? #fruitcake

Has nothing to do with his KNOWINGLY USING A FAKE DOCUMENT to influence an investigation...does it?
Try to stay on topic, just for a change of pace...

Comey has straight up said in front of the U.S. Congress that Trump did not break the law.

Comey used fake documents. WTF? Trump did the U.S.A. a favor in firing this guy.

These fruitcakes think Comey is going to stand up there and say there was obstruction, after already testifying that it's never happened, AND implicating himself to felonious non-reporting of said "obstruction".

Really? Please do tell where I can find the quote of Comey saying that Trump did not break the law.

When did Comey say "straight up" in front of Congress that Trump did not break a law? And which Congressman asked him if President Trump broke a law, and when? Link, please.

Just to be clear. Even if Comey said it was obstruction (and I doubt he would because that might color or influence Mueller's investigation), that would not be a felony crime for non-reporting. That law would have required that Comey taken an active step in hiding the obstruction - not merely "non-reporting." And his agency is one of the groups to whom that reporting is to made.

    18 U.S. Code § 4 - Misprision of felony

Current through Pub. L. 114-38. (See Public Laws for the current Congress.)

Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

    1. He already testified that no obstruction took place
    2. If he was aware of obstruction 5 months prior, he is required to report it to the Dept of Justice. By testifying that no obstruction previously occurred, he is himself committing obstruction of justice.

    Either way, the left loses.

The word "and" is very pertinent there. The person must not only fail to disclose, but they must also conceal. The fact that Comey wrote a memo of the conversation and shared that information, reportedly, with other top FBI officials (i.e. the agency to whom that reporting can be made) is sufficient to avoid prosecution.

And seriously, I don't get this talking point. The only way that Comey is guilty of the crime of hiding an obstruction of justice felony is the COMMISSION of an actual obstruction of justice felony by Trump.

Or Wasserman and Lynch. I don't fully buy that the Lynch email was fake.

Oh trust me, if Comey goes to jail for obstruction of justice (not gonna happen) or perjury (also not going to happen) because Trump committed an Obstruction of Justice (the only ways that your points 1 or 2 can lead to a legal ramification for Comey), then the left will absolutely declare that a win.

So you think Comey's going to send himself to jail, even if it did happen?

That was kinda the original point.

Does Comey have a drop of credibility left? I hate that I can't trust the FBI. I would like to think they are a bunch of patriotic loyal people working hard at thankless jobs in order to keep America safe.

Unfortunately they only seem to fail. They didn't stop 9/11 even though they had clues as to what was going to happen. They didn't stop the Russians from interfering in the election and their credibility is so shot that a lot of people don't believe them when they say the Russians did interfere in the first place.

Now their former boss says they used fake information? Not only that but he writes memos to himself and then leaks them when he wants to get back at someone?

The FBI needs to be cleaned up but unfortunately I don't have confidence that Trump will appoint the right person to do the job.

Every executive I have ever known keeps notes on meetings and telephone conversations.
