I do feel bad for the guy, but this is the consequence of breaking the law. That said, I think if their should be some sort of process to allow someone who is in the process of becoming a citizen to stay until that decision is made.
Thank you for clarifying your position. You care about keeping families together as long as there is no effort required on your part. You can enter text on forums while expecting the rest of us to pay for it. The dance of the sanctimonious is an entertaining one to watch. Lots of side-stepping.
Bad idea. If illegals know there's an expiration date on their criminality then they'll still flood the country hoping to avoid detection until their deportation shelf life runs out. It would also give them false hope.
I recall a bakery that went out of business because they didn't follow the law. Not only did the left not care about the human consequences, they cheered the baker's demise, and they did this know full well the people wanting a cake had many other alternatives. Wanna hear about a pizza place?
- Your claim that going back in time to the failed approach of previous presidents will result in less growth in the undocumented population is ridiculous. It's been proven false for more than a decade. - Being here without documentation is not a crime. - The undocumented population in America does present problems - a second tier employment pool of cheap discardable labor, pressure to avoid cooperation with law enforcement, etc., etc. But, there is no plan that could possibly resolve this problem through deportation. In fact, the recent changes have REDUCED the amount of cooperation with law enforcement that is possible, making criminal behavior HARDER to address. However, free market capitalist economics offers us an immediate solution that is sure to succeed.
Importing muslim terrorists and mexican crooks is as crazy as a dog importing fleas to crawl around on its back! If that makes me a xenophobe I don't give a rat's ass..
Just the threat of deportation and enforcement of our immigration laws has had a good impact on illegal immigration. Actually deporting people will show illegals their illegality could be fruitless and discourage them from even trying to come here.
Until they crash into you with no insurance. Or rob you. Or rape you. Or kill you or someone close to you. Their kids share classes with my kids but since they dont speak English it wastes tax dollars educating them. Documents have to be printed in Spanish which wastes more tax dollars. Money is spent on DREAMER scholarships my kids can't qualify for. Money and time is wasted accounting for and promoting diversity programs that shouldn't exist. We have to waste money preventing them from coming in the first place. You really are myopic.
Did you hear about the 2 illegal aliens that made it into the book of World records? One was an only child and the other had auto insurance!
Nobody is importing crooks or terrorists. And, under Obama's leadership the number of undocumented aliens STOPPED growing - an unprecedented accomplishment.
That's not consistent with data. The growth of the undocumented population stopped in ~2008. The changes that occurred had to do with job availability and focusing deportation on new arrivals while leaving those working here more or less alone. Under Trump, we aren't increasing the deportation rate - we're going back to the failed system of deporting families and portions of families who have committed no crimes. We tried that, and it didn't work.
Immigration law is law. This guy in the OP is a law breaker. The only thing "we" did wrong was let him get away with it long enough to start a family. I don't care if it's cruel or not. This guy should have considered the possibility when he started a family. I'm done with them. I have many friends from Mexico, Peru, England, Dominican Republic, and El Salvador. They all came here legally and have beautiful families. It shouldn't be that hard to avoid breaking our laws.
I'm enjoying the fact that Trump puts Americans first. Bear in mind when FDR forced into prisons the Japanese. If this Mexican grew coffee, he had funds to become a citizen. What prevented him from trying?
BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY HAVE TO STAY HERE. IF THE FAMILY IS "BROKEN UP" IT IS BECAUSE THEY CHOSE TO DO SO NOT BECAUSE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA DECIDED TO FINALLY TAKE BACK THEIR SOVEREIGNTY AND ENFORCE THE LAWS AGAINST ILLEGAL ENTRY. All of that "breaking up families" crap is just nonsense the leftists use to generate sympathy. WE are not breaking up families, THEY are when they decided that some of them stay here and others go home where they belong.
Or the florist? The hell with THOSE hard working American citizens whose lives were destroyed because they followed their faith and broke a law that violated their constitutional rights. For the left, they were collateral damage, no concern at all. In fact, they were gleeful in destroying those honest, small business people - right down to the death threats they issued. Breaking the laws that are violations of the Constitution is bad. Breaking laws enabled by the Constitution (like defending our borders and sovereignty) is good. It must be so hard to be a leftist. So many hypocritical positions to have to keep in mind.
You don't know illegal immigration stopped in 2008. We have no idea how many are here. We keep hearing 11 million but it could be 20 million or 30 million. When Reagan passed Simpson-Mazzoli in the 80's we were told that there were going to be 1 million given amnesty. After the counting was done it turned out to be 3.3 million. In his last two years, Obama opened the gates, stopped enforcing borders and shipped an unknown number of illegal aliens into the interior with "catch and release". If you've read the news lately you will have seen reports that there were dozens of MS-13 gang members among them that Obama admin KNOWINGLY released into the country. Thankfully Trump is now starting to round them up and send their miserable asses back home.
They have a second chance. Go home. Apply to be admitted. Thank the taxpayers and the people of the United States of America for the opportunities you stole by violating their sovereignty. Do the right thing and you are welcome. I might grant them re-entry and a temporary visa of some kind, by virtue of which they can show they won't violate our laws and sovereignty again, but never citizenship. I wouldn't grant a burglar who broke into my back window and set up houskeeping ownership of my house and I don't want illegal aliens given the great privilege of citizenship after they have proven they do not respect what that means.
Maybe you can stand at the border and play that tiny whining violin as the bus unloads their law breaking arses and sends them back home. Just think if we send them all back we won't have to raise taxes for overcrowded schools. The school lunch program will be solvent again. Higher education can become affordable again. No more long waits in the emergency room for care, lower costs for health care. No Mexican restaurant on every corner. We will be able to understand what people are saying for a change. Crime will drop significantly as dope coming into the country will be greatly reduced. When they all get back to were they came from and use what they learned from their time in America they can make their countries great again.
I'm not sure what you were trying to say with that article. I was saying union workers make much more than immigrants.
