Very lucid post. I wish more dem voters thought and spoke like you do.

Imagine if everyone who thought like this worked together.

I think there was a time when that maxim was true; but now I fear it has been reversed. I think Republicans appeal to emotion more than reason; and Democrats to reason more than emotion. And I think the proof in that is the mistrust of elites - the left don't trust the oligarch class, the right doesn't trust academics/experts. That is my view at least, and I think it's an indication that Republicans sell everyone on a feeling; a feeling that 'you too will be rich one day'; whereas the Democrats say 'every piece of data we've collected since the enlightenment begs to differ'.

And to this; I respond that I agree. Implementation is the tough part; brainstorming is easy. But I'd also say, on that very subject, if say the rest of the modernized, industrialized and democratic world has figured out and implemented a better healthcare system than us; than it is no longer an idea on a piece of paper - we can see that Germany, France, Canada and the UK still have political and economic freedom even if they have socialized medicine. That to me illustrates why I believe that maxim you stated has flipped/switched.

You're the one dancing around. My words were "the ignorant and easily disproved propaganda". Maybe you have trouble distinguishing yourself from the propaganda that you consume. You decide. I never called you ignorant.

There have been many people who investigated whether Obama ever attended a mosque or whether he attended, and attends, a Christian church. They found he did not attend any mosque but he routinely attended a Christian church. So I accept that testimony of his practice. You accept a right wing smear campaign about his words and the clumsy delivery.

I appreciate that. And I think plenty of people do think that way; I just think we're at a hyper partisan moment and everyone is on the defensive or the counter-offensive. Everybody sees a dragon they have to slay; nobody sees a compromise they should make.

Propaganda that will appeal to about 1/4 of the USA electorate?

    So what?

If it appealed to only 1/4th of the electorate, you wouldn't be calling him President tonight.

Its whats beating dems like a baby seal...

and Americans also know the propaganda is whats coming from dems and the MSM.

Lolz, I remember when you thought Hillary was going to win.

You are still wrong tonight bro.

From your typing fingers to God's ears! As much as many people don't like McConnell, he earned every vote I ever gave him by opposing the Obama agenda in the Senate and keeping another liberal justice from being appointed to the SCOTUS. Obama's executive orders have proven far easier to reverse than any legislation, and thankfully after McConnell became Majority Leader there was no significant liberal legislation passed. And Trump nominated Gorsuch, and McConnell had the guts to shove the Dems' tactics right back down their throats and push that nomination through. If neither Trump nor McConnell ever accomplishes another thing in their positions, they've fulfilled the main reasons I voted for them. Happy camper here, and anything else is icing on the cake.

I appreciate your joy, but Mitch is a biznitch.

    Better than dems? Yes.

    But McConnell is super slow.

I appreciate him being a republican, but I wish he wasn't so slow to the show.

Imagine if republicans fought like dems.

Imagine if republicans fought like dems.

    Let us wake up.

    Plus, we got scotus.

Your first point is correct, Democrats vote with their hearts. They reject the individualist, dog-eat-dog world the GOP platform wants to implement.

Your second point is partially correct, to about 25%, Republicans vote with their heads when it comes to money, because money in their own pocket is all they understand about economics. They don't understand, however, that their beloved tax cuts only provide short term gains and sink the economy long term.

But, 75% of the GOP vote is pure emotion, mostly fear, but some hate.

-Fear of the "others", Muslims, people of color, foreigners etc.
-Fear of taking their beloved guns away.
    -Fear of communists/socialists.
-Fear of the greens who take away their right to drive the rolling coal monster truck.
-Hate of the moochers living in their heads who steal all their hard earned money.

As to the other posters, it is interesting that the righties know so well why the Dems currently are in the backseat. As I said, enjoy your day in the sun, it won't last. Judging from most posters in this thread, though, our conservative friends, however, think that they have defeated the Dems for eternity. Keep that illusions up, because it will only help the Dems.

I think people will change. Back in the old days a politician could say one thing in front of a crowd, then do the morning talk shows and say the exact opposite while never being challenged by the media. We have the internet and cell phones will cameras today. People have so much access to information and greater platforms of communication than ever before. Fortunately for us the idiots in Washington haven't caught on to that yet. Thats why pigs like Corey Booker and Kirsten Gillibrand are being exposed for what they are. Just puppets of large corporations and doing whatever it takes to get elected, rather than having a set of principles and convictions they follow. Thats why when Trump tweets something, we can find a tweet from 3 years ago from him where he had the exact opposite opinion.

I think the GOP is less likely to breakup. Conservatives typically don't break ranks, and therefore I think they will be in perpetual conflict with itself for quite some time.

Pointing fingers doesn't work for Democrats for sure. At least not anymore it doesn't. Both parties need to re-examine their positions and figure out what they should really stand for. And I think people need to do a better job of being informed of whats actually happening.

I find it amusing though that conservatives voted for Trump in the primaries with overwhelming support. Yet they still continue to re-elect the duds like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell into office. Why? You elect a new president who ran on fighting the establishment, yet you continue to support the establishment to stay in power. Something does not compute here.

You clearly identified people that acknowledge Obama's Muslim roots as being "ignorant." That was the first thing wrong with your post. Secondly, you believe what you want to believe AND you ignore the facts. THAT is why you had to ask me what book. You did not check the links.

You are the one who acts out of ignorance. Both in his written words and spoken words, Obama has clearly and unequivocally identified as Muslim AND stated many times that if Islam and Christianity were at war, Obama himself, said he would side with Islam. Links provided in earlier posts.

As for the "Christian" church Obama attended, Obama said that the pastor of that "church" (sic), Jeremiah Wright, was his "moral compass." So, let's talk a bit about Obama's moral compass:

Do you know of any other preachers, representing Christianity, that talk like that during a sermon?

47% of famiies filing a federal income tax return pay NO FEDERAL TAXES! ZERO. And all you Democrats do is play your socialist "tax the rich" nonsense. When Bush cut taxes, the greatest percentage cut was for the lowest tax bracket, and the lowest percentage cut in taxes was for the highest tax bracket. Naturally because some very wealthy pay so much, they get more back. HELLO! Nothing any Republican ever does is right, according to divisive, hateful Democrats. Nothing.

Killing innocent babies is fine by you. Denying a father his own child is fine by you, or conversely, making him pay child support for 18 years is also fine. YOu could care less. How "compassionate" (sick) of you.

You just don't CARE. Divisiveness is YOUR PARTY. Disgraceful. I wonder how you can sleep at night.

As long as Libs continue to "think" with their emotions instead of facts, common sense and reasoning, they will continue to lose. You never get tired of winning, but the Libs certainly should be tired of losing by now. After all, they have had so many meltdowns, but, alas, they have no common sense.

Brings up a good point! The libby's bitch and moan about Russian involvement and collusion when their own party interfered underhandedly and colluded to take Ol Bernie out of the race, and he may very well have won.

The left are like wild animals, they sit idly by and watch quietly as their party eats their own LOL

Old school liberals need to take their party back. The "progressives", or the millennial BLM bigoted hate groups, have ruined every chance they have at a normal party.
