Actually the First Amendment is what keeps the promotion of religion out of public schools. As far as talking about it, there should be no problem in the proper context - which would be, for example, a social studies class or an anthropology class. But still, you have not answered my question: Why do you think you get to vote on who can marry whom? And why do you think government should even be involved in marriage at all?

 

All of that could be easily conveyed through private contracts between consenting adults. There is no need for the special body of law surrounding legal matrimony.

We don't 'shelter' them from it, we simply live as though it has no relevance to our lives. We ignore it, for want of a better word.
