Missile Defense: North Korea's successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile has everyone talking about missile defense, and the fact that the U.S. doesn't seem to have one that could stop a madman like Kim Jong-un. You can blame antimissile defense Democrats for this.

Shortly after the North Korea test, Politico ran an article pointing out that "the Pentagon and its contractors still haven't figured out how to reliably shoot down an intercontinental ballistic missile."

The Missile Defense Agency did in late May destroy a mock ICBM launched from the Marshall Islands with an interceptor launched from the Vandenberg Air Force B Base in California. But the system has failed in previous heavily scripted attempts.

And MDA director Vice Admiral James Syring told a House committee recently that "I would not say we are comfortably ahead of the threat. I would say we are addressing the threat."

What no one commenting on this troubling gap mentions is why it is there at all. News accounts are quick to point out that $189.7 billion has been spent on missile defense since President Reagan announced his vision in 1983, which is supposed to seem like a lot of money.

But that doesn't tell the whole story.

The truth is that the country would be well ahead of where we are now on missile defense if Democrats — including, most recently, President Obama — hadn't spent the past 30 years trying to derail the project.

    ______
Obama slashed missile defense when he came into office. He seemed to believe he could sweet-talk despots into liking America. In the meantime he also reneged on the Polish deal for their missile defense system.
Bill Clinton gave North Korea a green light to go ahead with their offensive nuclear program. Barack Obama not only gave a green light to Iran to do the same, but gave them billions of dollars to fund the program.
The Progressive Marxist Democrats like to forget that Clinton gave China and N.Korea the means and technology to advance in missile technology that we see today. These are not actions of naïve people who foolishly believe that if they talk nice to despots, they can convince the despots to embrace the values of freedom, peace, and human dignity. These are the actions of extreme Progressive Marxist Leftists who want to destroy this country by any means possible. Since destroying the country from within is a slow process hampered by strong resistance, it appears that they decided that building up the ability of insane regimes to inflict massive destruction would be a much more effective way of furthering their destructive agenda.
In the meantime, North Korea with the assistance of China has steadily improved their capability to turn our country to rubble. All while our feminized president presided in Washington for 8 years impeded the advancement of our anti-missile systems.

Sure - spend billions on missile defense - cause those North Koreans will never, ever, be able to figure out how to ship a container on a commercial ship for $2,000 bucks.

Everytime something goes wrong during a Republicans Presidency, it's always Democrats of the past fault. North Korea developed Nuclear Weapons during the GW Bush administration, but the only Presidents this guy can blame is Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Now North Korea has launched it's own ICBM and all Trump can do is flap his lips and spew hollow threats, but Pubbies can only blame the same two Presidents. It's amazing how brainwashed Republican supporters have become.

Did you also sarcastically thank George Bush because the US couldn't defend against box cutters on 9/11? If the $multi-trillion military defense system second to none on the planet can't defend against box cutters, why would you expect it to defend against nukes?

Obviously you have forgotten the moves made by your favorite presidents Clinton and Obama in the transfer of rocket technology to China during the 1990's has been shared with North Korea and now Iran, along with the fact that Obama cut the DOD funding of advanced anti-missile research by billions from 2010 onward.
In response to your idiotic post, the answer is in the affirmative, If you are asking why, only someone that is uninformed, and mentally not capable of ascertaining what's going on would make a statement such as:
"Kill ALL new military spending. It's not needed whatsoever, and only enriches our military industrial complex at this point".

Correct. The USG sanctioned the transfer of the technology needed for China and ultimately its client NK to create nuclear arsenals.

Should we now support a USG first strike to eliminate a threat the USG helped to create?

If so, then, IMO, the first step should be to abrogate every treaty that we signed that makes it illegal for the USG to launch such an aggressive attack.

You sound like a really stupid person. Do you know what the military industrial complex is? DO NOT comment again until you understand what that is. By the way, I hate both Obama and Clinton, so don't ever stereotype me again.

Ordinary American liberals seldom fully appreciate how tightly linked the Democrats and Republicans in the political class really are. Here is a clue:

“Restructuring, okay. Spinning off, okay. Just don't say that they're splitting up. But it's no longer going to be PodestaMattoon .
Democrat Anthony T. Podesta and Republican Daniel J. Mattoon , heads of one of the major bipartisan lobby shops in town, are basically going on their own as of Jan. 1.

Mattoon, whom Podesta brought on in 2001, says he's "spinning off" his practice, which will be called Mattoon & Associates . But he'll remain in his offices at the firm and maintain a "strategic alliance" with the former PodestaMattoon, sharing some clients.”

“The two are working out the details with their lawyers, and then they will decide how to split the staff and client rosters.
Podesta said he expects Mattoon to take the clients that he is the lead for, such as BellSouth Corp., Alcatel USA and United Airlines. Among those probably remaining with Podesta include Amgen Inc., Genentech Inc., Lockheed Martin Corp. and The Washington Post Co.” THE WASHINGTON POST, PodestaMattoon by Any Other Name . . .” By Judy Sarasohn, November 2, 2006.

Thank Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. North Korea couldn’t have done it without their gullibility.

Back in 1994, President Clinton prepared to confront North Korea over CIA reports it had built nuclear warheads and its subsequent threats to engulf Japan and South Korea in “a sea of fire.”

Enter self-appointed peacemaker Carter: The ex-prez scurried off to Pyongyang and negotiated a sellout deal that gave North Korea two new reactors and $5 billion in aid in return for a promise to quit seeking nukes.
But in 2002, the North Koreans ’fessed up: They’d begun violating the accord on Day One. Four years later, Pyongyang detonated its first nuke.

There is no very effective "defense" against nukes or many of the other serious weapons of mass destruction.

I'll gladly admit guilt to GW Bush for removing NK from the terrorist sponsor list, he shouldn't have done that. But likewise, President Obama should have done more about North Korea and now it's Trump's turn. How did WW2 start? When an aggressor nation was slowly and gradually building its military. What is North Korea doing? Slowly and gradually building its military. The original plan most likely was for China and NK to coordinate when the time was right to sweep the Asian map, including our Japanese allies. Probably they were hoping for a US Financial and military decline.

It's a race against time to establish supremacy in the Asian waters, which is why I fully support the readiness of the Japanese army, as a major check on China.

And that is what is meant by Anti Colonialism.
A term I first heard applied to Obama.
It is as if, if not true, Obama detested "The First World".
That's the West for them that didn't know, First World, us; Second World, Reds.
And Third World you have probably heard and know.

Anyone have a mailing address for Obama?
I'd like to send him a pack of cigarettes. You can bet what I would pray for!

Don't blame me, I'm just butting in. ;)

Did you know the original phrase was
    Military Industrial Government Complex.
Government got edited out just before the speech was delivered.
Y'gotta admit Military Industrial Government Complex makes more sense than without gov't.

If you knew anything about Eisenhower you would know that:

    1) In the (in)famous "military industrial complex" speech, Eisenhower DID NOT call for reducing military spending or the size of American miltiary forces. In fact quite the opposite. He pointed out that in a future war the U.S. would have no time to mobilize and thus would have to fight with what we already have.

    2) Eisenhower believed the only way of restricting the rise in military spending...........was to be willing to use nuclear weapons. Not just to "deter" other nations but to use the raw firepower of nuclear weapons to blow other nations and their military forces away. Including the U.S. using first strikes of nuclear weapons if necessary.

I guess you're okay with the U.S. freely using nuclear weapons?

Of course I know what the Military Industrial Complex orated by former president Dwight D. Eisenhower. I was part of the MIC during the time Ike spoke about it. It seems that our opponents understood it better than our politicians and you. They've done something about it while presidents like Obama used Ike's words to weaken our Nat'l Security.

Shhhh... You're not supposed to lower the boom this quickly... You have to slowly get there.....The thing most if not all liberals who quote Eisenhower today is that they are simply mouthing the words supplied to them in their indoctrination in our public schools. Long almost forgotten is the actual context within which Eisenhower mentioned this. So, sometimes, it's just more humorous to watch the thrash and let it ruminate a tad.... :roflol:

Sorry but the 911 aircraft were not full of armed military troops.

Should we knock down dangerous missiles fired at the USA? Well, should we give cops bullet proof vests?
