I won't go into my education, but it certainly was mostly technical. However, I love literature, and I spent about 2 years studying Russian literature on my own. Read everything. A few years later, I dated a girl who had a degree in Russian Literature. When I found out, I started a conversation about it and she said "Oh, i just got the degree to have one, I've pretty much forgotten everything."

Institutes don't educate. They provide resources and a sheepskin. The resources can be found outside the institution and often free or low cost. Nothing stops a person from buying a textbook or attending a lecture. I even have a friend who is a now-retired mechanical engineer who is completely self-educated. I have another friend with a degree in linguistics from Oxford. He says he never bothered showing up for classes. He went in for exams, passed, and got his degree.

So you are fine with the Universities gouging normal citizens and leaving them out to dry with worthless degrees? I know America is not fair. No place is and you have to teach your kids life ain't fair. If you don't do that, you fail. Only morons think life is fair, especially when they don't work for it.

    Sick, sick, sick.

America is a deeply unfair country from an economics POV. But, that's due to upper-income taxation that deprives its people of both free National-Healthcare and free Tertiary Education (at a state-institution of higher learning).

With those fundamentally basic government institutions funded properly, the rest we can cope with ...
