That is a separate issue. The doctor may have felt, correctly, that the UK/EU would never let the parents choose another doctor and course of treatment.

Most doctors, like most of the rest of us, have many other things on our minds all the time.

Why? He was invited over in January, he did not even read all the contemporaneous medical files!

Once the government intervened to take control of the child there was little chance of a reversal.
Government officials are rather like jackasses when they decide on a course of action. Most people know that.
The parents did not have a big enough 2x4 to compel the release of the child.

I can well believe your government are a bunch of jackasses, however we are not talking about your government or judges.

Fact. The US doctor was invited over to examine Charlie in January, he did not until July.

I am not really interested in "what everybody knows" they seldom do!

LOL! Everybody who even glances at human history knows for a fact that "government are a bunch of jackasses" - especially UK/EU governments.

Your "Fact" is irrelevant. Surely you know that. There was never any need for an examination of the child.

You confuse what you think you know, with what you actually know. Nothing left to discuss.

He'd have to prove he isn't a quack and is on very shaky ground there.

Oh, please. He's a quack and worse, a snake oil salesman.

What astonished me was the way the pro lifers on social media turned on the parents for stopping the child's suffering. They really showed there true colours!

Do you have any evidence that he is not, in fact, a licensed physician?

He's still a quack. One good thing has come out of this awful situation. That man has been totally exposed for what he is.

“[Dr Hirano] stated that not only had he not visited the hospital to examine Charlie but in addition, he had not read Charlie’s contemporaneous medical records or viewed Charlie’s brain imaging or read all of the second opinions about Charlie’s condition (obtained from experts all of whom had taken the opportunity to examine him and consider his records) or even read the Judge’s decision made on 11 April,” Gosh said, in a statement that was read out at the High Court by Katie Gollop QC.

“Further, GOSH was concerned to hear the Professor state, for the first time, whilst in the witness box, that he retains a financial interest in some of the NBT compounds he proposed prescribing for Charlie.”[-I]

You keep republishing libel per se even though you know it is illegal.
What an odd thing to do.

    It's not libel.

Feel like responding to the statement from GOSH?

It is a common textbook example of defamation - libel /slander.

    Introduction to Slander

Slander, in the law of torts, oral defamation or use of the spoken word to injure another's reputation, as distinguished from libel or written defamation. To be the basis of a legal action, a publication of the words complained of, that is, their utterances in the hearing of third persons, must demonstrably have taken place. Among statements considered slanderous per se are those that impute the commission of a felony, as by calling an individual a forger or murderer; that impute an individual to be suffering from an offensive disease, such as leprosy or syphilis; or that are injurious to an individual in his or her trade or profession, as by calling a doctor a quack.”
    http://lawin.org/slander/

Has your lawyer told you it is legal to call a licensed physician a "quack"?

It is interesting that on another thread the poster is quite happy to suggest GOSH doctors are politically motivated. Is that libel?

Paste up that quote from whatever post concerns you.
Are you claiming that I called those doctors "quacks"?

In America, as everyone knows, this child would not have been kept alive unless the parents were super-rich.

There's nice. Pity they are not to be found where the people who need them are, and don't treat people until there's very little hope left.

No - the British NHS looked after the baby's interests and prevented his being handed over to money-mad American experimenters' advertising-systems.

If you believe in a god then the child died because god wanted him dead. If you do not, then it was a terrible disease that killed him and chance. If you think there was a conspiracy by the British state to kill the child, I would be delighted to see what evidence you have for that claim, but best you put it with the other conspiracy threads.

Yet another verse of "The NHS Loves Me, This I know!"

"A man of 22 died in agony of dehydration after three days in a leading teaching hospital. Kane Gorny was so desperate for a drink that he rang police to beg for their help.
They arrived on the ward only to be told by doctors that everything was under control.

The next day his mother Rita Cronin found him delirious and he died within hours."

"Neglected by 'lazy' nurses, man, 22, dying of thirst rang the police to beg for water", Emily Andrews. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ny-22-dying-thirst-rang-police-beg-water.html

Lud, you are a true believer.

    Quality and Safety
Deaths by medical mistakes hit records
The way IT is designed remains part of the problem
    By Erin McCann
    July 18, 2014
    05:58 AM
It's a chilling reality – one often overlooked in annual mortality statistics: Preventable medical errors persist as the No. 3 killer in the U.S. – third only to heart disease and cancer – claiming the lives of some 400,000 people each year. At a Senate hearing Thursday, patient safety officials put their best ideas forward on how to solve the crisis, with IT often at the center of discussions.

Hearing members, who spoke before the Subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging, not only underscored the devastating loss of human life – more than 1,000 people each day – but also called attention to the fact that these medical errors cost the nation a colossal $1 trillion each year.
