Ohio always swings back and forth in presidential years.

So no, Ohio wasn't going to be a won by a dem that year regardless. Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinatti doesn't make up the whole state.

Depends on whether the dems find a candidate and a platform by then. I won't comment on a platform until I see what they do in the midterms, but I don't see any candidates in the dem party that can compete.

They are not stupid, they won't be fooled by a last minute "pro-deplorables" platform from a party that's been insulting and ridiculing their voting decisions, priorities and patriotism and attempting a soft coup to overturn their presidential victory.

If the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers have a bad season, they will go blue.

Losers who become butt hurt always vote the Democrat ticket.

Of course. Trump won MI by only +0.12% and both WI And PA by +0.71%, respectively.
Just as when Obama won IN in 2008 by +1.03% and NC by +0.29%, both of those states reverted back to the GOP column in 2012.
The chances of WI, MI and PA staying red are not very high, if electoral history is our guide.

Didn't you look at the voting results?

Trump won Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania thanks to Independent voters, who were actually voting against Hillary, rather than for Trump.

Assuming Trump runs in 2020, he won't be able to count on the Independent vote again.

    Obviously.

The "Independents" (who facilitated Trump's wins in PA,MI, WI) are RUING the Day that they voted for that UNPREPARED IMBECILE.

Pretty easily. They're not red states now - they're purply blue states. If during election Trump is real unpopular, they can go blue. But if he's just doing ok, then Democrats might need to change messaging.

Republicans have found a way to move away from that unpopular moral majority stuff - Democrats are still holding on to things that are hurting them at the polls. It's based on the belief that the middle doesn't matter - one of Obama's campaign advisors said that.

Well, the dems owe the american people a huge apology for nominating Hillary in the primaries. They knew she had high unfavorable ratings before they ran, but they did it anyways? Can you say DUH

I think that if Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell succeed in repealing or watering down Obamacare, those states will go Democratic again. I am originally from Appalachian coal country, and when people there voted, most didn't know that they were putting their health insurance in jeopardy. Some have since woken up to that fact, but most won't unless they lose coverage.

Obamacare includes making it easier for miners and former miners to claim health care benefits for black lung disease, common among miners and the disease that killed my father. Also, an inordinate percentage of the people in those states have addiction problems caused by over-medication for their multiple health problems and receive treatment under expanded Medicare. If Medicare is taken from them, they are likely to feel that they made a bad choice in voting Republican.

On the other hand, if the Republicans fail to repeal Obamacare and enough of them wake up and join Democrats to fix Obamacare's problems, the Republicans stand a good chance of winning working-class USA.

As far as "moving back to the center" is concerned, one thing that angered many in the working class is that they felt the Democrats had moved too far to the right, abandoning their pro-worker policies in the process. Hillary Clinton was seen as a member of the rich elite, just as Donald Trump is. The Democrats need to return to the left and renew their concern for working people. They are not going to win elections by being wanna-be Republicans in favor of wealth transfers to the rich.

And how are they going to win elections unless they drop the identity and cultural politics? Noone gives a **** about transgender issues or any of that BS. People care about economic issues, I hate to tell you that, but it's the truth. People care about putting food on the table.

This is, of course, very untrue and nothing more than worthless hyperpartisan propaganda.
First, a huge number of Democrats are

    a.) white
    b.) Christian

So, your argument falls apart like corned beef in hot water.

    Second, aside from 2016:

    MI was a 6 for 6 D state from 1992-2012
    PA was a 6 for 6 D state from 1992-2012
    WI was a 7 for 7 D state from 1988-2012

So, electoral history simply does not back up your silly, hateful, illogical claim.

It's about time for people to wake up and realize that this kind of hyperpartisanship does nobody any good.

PA and MI I see as higher chances of bets. In PA, for example, you have Pittsburgh and Philly, the Democratic parts of the state, then you have the Central Valley area which is the conservative helm of the keystone state. I honestly think Trump only took PA because of this manufacturing from the 80s he thought he was going to be able to bring back.

These states never turned red in the first place....likely now they are green, as in sickened.

Trump was never Republican and never will be,
