Have you ever wondered why the same gun control threads keep popping up repeatedly? They start, the gun control argument gets thoroughly debunked, and a couple weeks later the exact same gun control thread is started.

    This explains it.

    https://lewrockwell.com/2017/07/no_author/the-lunacy-of-the-left/

Most people understand that gun control is worthless as a tool to control crime or even reduce gun accidents......The mountain of data in support of liberalized gun laws is beyond dispute. Even if you are not inclined to dig into the details, the fundamental logic is manifest.

Despite all this, Progressives obsess over gun laws......The people who support this sort of stuff know nothing about guns, gun culture or gun shows. Yet, they remain convinced that gun shows resemble an arms bizarre in the Middle East, where bearded men buy and sell military gear. Further, they remain convinced that gun shows are exempt from the thousands of gun laws on the books. They are convinced that “gun show loophole” is a real thing.

......All of us have had the experience where the Prog friend or relative starts going on about guns. Someone then steps forward to correct all of their errors about guns and gun laws. Then someone gently explains to them the anti-logic at the core of gun control. The Prog will take correction, nod along and seem to understand the material, but then soon after they will be repeating the same gun control slogans they were saying the last time.

It’s just the nature of the fanatic. They see only that which confirms the nature of their fanaticism. That simple and seemingly effective conversation you had with the blue haired girl at the office about guns may as well have been in Swahili. As soon as she confronted disconfirmation, her receptors shut down and she went onto autopilot, appearing to comprehend what you were saying, but not really hearing any of it.

Gun control has become an obsession with Progs, because they are convinced it harms white people, particularly white men. Again, this is not malice of forethought. It is instinctual as the Prog faith is an explicit rejection of the culture created by western white males.

Its seems to be that simple. Progs hate Western society, and by extension white males. Progs see guns as part of white male culture, so guns must be bad. It has nothing to do with public safety or data.

    Does it make sense now?

They seek a state monopoly on force, and know this cannot happen until the people are disarmed.

While simultaneously complaining what said force is utilized by the state against individuals who were actually committing crimes, just because they happen to be a member of a minority. There is a desire to see the state have a monopoly on force, but only as long as that force is never used, no matter the circumstances.

Ridiculous. I support gun control and I certainly don't hate white males. In fact, I'd say that white males are arguably the best thing that ever happened to humanity. I'm not sure you could go anywhere in this world and not find people whose lives have not been substantially improved by the ideas, discoveries, innovations, and inventions of white males.

well there are some people who want to outlaw gay marriage or ban homosexual sex between consenting adults and a few of them might well not be bigoted too but the vast majority are and asa an influential NR article noted-gun control =as a cause celebrated by the American left is near and dear jus about every group that sees white Christian Conservative Males as their enemies

    http://www.nationalreview.com/artic...oting-gun-control-left-wing-identity-politics

The cultural role of the NRA is to be the fat white face that absorbs the Left’s hatred for the hunting, shooting, and gun-collecting demographics. This has nothing to do with the NRA’s opposition to some kinds of gun control, a fact that can be readily appreciated by looking at the sort of thing gun-rights advocates generally do support in the way of gun control, which progressives either ignore or actively oppose.

many moons ago, I did a UC with a militant anti nuclear power group.I learned a lot how they operate. An important point is that these left wing groups are all related in someway..they know each other and support each other while pursuing their unique agenda.I also learned first hand , how helpful and manipulative a sympathetic media

Guns are your way of thinning the herd. All this "protection" angle is BS.

Just think, if you didn't shoot 30,000 of each other every year, you'd need to find homes, food, jobs etc etc for a lot more American than you do now.

If you think about it, you could actually shoot your way to getting rid of the national debt simply by having a lot less americans than you do now.

I don't see the down side!
1 - You get to shoot people.
2 - You reduce the population.
3 - You help the countrys finances.

Someone find me a bad side to this.

That was a good comedy routine, and yet, it made very little sense.

When you read how many times Armed American citizens save lives.

The so called "Protection ( 'saving lives' ) angle," or metric,
is plain for all to see.

Boy, am I sick of the lies of the gun control advocates. They just keep spouting the same "30,000" number again and again and again despite its having been proven to be bunk again and again and again.

Suicides are not murders, and gun control does nothing to prevent them. People just choose other methods. For all the wailing about "30,000" nobody talks about how our overall suicide rate - INCLUDING GUNS - is no worse than average with the rest of the civilized world, and better than most. Yeah, more people use guns to kill themselves in the U.S. than elsewhere because guns are more readily available, but enacting gun control might make guns less available but will simply mean more people choosing different methods of ending their lives.

If you can't be honest in your arguments, shut up and go away.

Problem with your claim is that we don't shoot 30,000 people a year.

The irony of this statement is good for a laugh.

The exact same slogans / ideology could be used in reverse, for the record please see the below list of idealogical words or statements that mean nothing except comfort for those in the hard right.
    -the-lunacy-of-the-left
    - gun control is worthless as a tool to control crime or even reduce gun accidents
    - Progressives obsess over gun laws
    - support this sort of stuff know nothing about guns
    - gun shows resemble an arms bizarre in the Middle East, where bearded men buy and sell military gear
    - Prog friend
    - anti-logic at the core of gun control
    - The Prog will take correction
    - It’s just the nature of the fanatic. They see only that which confirms the nature of their fanaticism ( my personal favourite)
    - Gun control has become an obsession with Progs,
    - they are convinced it harms white people, particularly white men (this is just racist)
    - instinctual as the Prog faith

Basically what you are holding up as your bible of truth is a meandering ramble of slogans and opinions about the weakness of the "other side".

I know thinking before posting isn't a great past time on these forums but really, sometimes and sit back and think before you post.

I would support this proposal for gun control advocates, if you could show the same line to those who are being dishonest on the pro gun side.

The simple fact is, its easier to taunt your ideological enemy then your ideological friend, no matter how much of a lieing thieving dog your ideological friend is.

Well, lets look at these statements you claim mean nothing:

-the-lunacy-of-the-left depends on the context, could be hyperbole or fact, in the context of the lefts wild obsession with the Trump-Russia myth and gun control it is lunacy of the left

    - gun control is worthless as a tool to control crime or even reduce gun accidents This is factually based, as many posts in this forum have shown. FBI UCR data, CDC data, even obama's CDC report he commissioned right after Sandy Hook, shows gun control measures are often pointless with respect to reducing crime and accidental shootings.

    - Progressives obsess over gun laws
This is also fact based. The same progs start the same gun control threads every month, using the same claims and propaganda, showing they are impervious to facts. And gun control is clearly a fundamental plank in the "progressive" political platform.

    - support this sort of stuff know nothing about guns This is also fact based. There may be a few banners who know something of firearms, but when the banners cannot even get clip versus magazine correct, they know nothing about guns.

    - gun shows resemble an arms bizarre in the Middle East, where bearded men buy and sell military gear
Fact based. Gun banners seem to think there is this giant anything goes gun show loophole that arms all the criminals, which is false. Obviously.

    - Prog friend I'll grant that to be ridiculous, progs are not permitted to have non-prog friends.

    - anti-logic at the core of gun control
    fact, see above.

The last 5 are all true, already addressed previously. Gun control is not about public safety or progs would be signing a different tune and would not be so deaf to the facts.

Mate - i'm not a gun control person - If you want to own a bazzoka then i'll help you strap it to your car.

Its perfectly normal if you think about it - If americans shot more americans there would be less americans to have to fund/support.

While it might sound distasteful, it would be easier for america to shoot itself out of debt than any other method.

Plus the fact, americans do like shooting each other so you'd only be doing more of something you enjoy!

Like i said - find me a bad side to this idea.

Then you have you first annual target....or is 30,000 to high to start with?

Should we lower it to 25,000 and build from there?

The argument becomes fatuous when anyone claims that Gun control will lower numbers of people killed annually as a result of Criminal acts of violence.

Facts say otherwise, yet Gun control advocates refuse to accept facts and resort to unproven slogans and sound bites and taunting and name calling.

Millions of Law abiding people with concealed carry prove Gun control advocates wrong everyday.

A pastime is a hobby, past times are events of long ago, history.

"I know thinking before posting isn't a great past time on these forums, but really sometimes and sit back and think before you post."

    It should have read;

" I know thinking before posting isn't a great pastime on these forums, but really, sometimes (and) sit back and think before you post."

A pastime (Note the spelling with one s.) is a hobby, or, as the Oxford English Dictionary puts it, “a diversion or recreation which serves to pass the time agreeably; an activity done for pleasure rather than work; a hobby; a sport, a game. ... To pass time means to spend time doing something.

The point is that you are making up data, or are being fooled by propaganda.

In 2015, a firearm was used to murder 9,587 people (FBI Uniform Crime Report 2015 Table 20). In a nation of 320 million, that's a rate of 3.0 per 100,000 people, not a very high rate at all. And it was almost always a handgun, not a rifle or shotgun.

In fact more people were punched and kicked to death (624) than were killed by rifles (251), so you can skip the propaganda about AR's and AK's and "assault rifles".
