    From your own IRS link;

3.3% of 13 million is 430,000! Out of 10.2 million illegal immigrants that is just 4% that are taking jobs using stolen IDs. Then you have to assume that all of those are for middle class jobs as opposed to low wage jobs.

That is such a small fraction of middle class jobs as to not even be significant when it comes to job losses caused by GOP enabled corporate outsourcing of middle class jobs.

The overthrow of the Shah of Iran and the Arab Spring also stemmed from wealth inequality.

Those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them.

The major difference is that the Dem leadership is trying to address the concerns of wealth inequality whereas the GOP is actively promoting even greater wealth inequality even as we post. Furthermore the massive rift in the GOP has resulted in the voices of reason, AKA the genuine conservatives, being driven out of the party by the extremist alt right. There are still many voices of reason in the Dem Party.

The OP is about the loss of the voices of reason in the GOP!

That gives them the power to regulate international and interstate commerce. There is no distinction in the type of commerce.

I will concede you that it does spell out a relationship though.

No point in going back and forth.

How do you stop smart resourceful people from being more successful than people that spend a lifetime making bad decisions?

I ask it that way because that is really the difference between the rich and the poor in this country. Plenty more fall in the middle of those 2 extremes, and those are the middle class.

Outside looking in.... As a fiscally conservative political centrist, the only thing clear, is that both parties are only out for their parties.

    DNC bullshit noted.

    GOP bullshit noted.

The moderates within both camps, could, again, outside looking in, very easily work with each other.

The far left pendulum swing 8 years ago, followed by the results of that return swing further right, have set that possibility squarely to the side.

Those voting purely along party lines.... Prior to '16.... in favor of that partisan practice showed in '16, that they were sick of it, & wildly rejected Obama's Hope for Change, in favor of what may well end up being an equally farcical Brand.

    I'm rambling a bit.
    Time will tell.

Nothing the dems have done in the last 15 years addresses wealth inequality. All they have done in recent memory is try to put higher taxes on the wealthy. That punishes the rich and does nothing for the poor.

The only way that could be called fixing anything is if you think the fix should be everyone is poor.

Regulating corporations does not stop the smart and the resourceful from becoming wealthy by LEGITIMATE means. The evidence for that is to be found in the EU Social Democracies. However the DEREGULATION that is happening here in the USA is enabling EXPLOITATION of the middle class that is causing an IMBALANCE and a massive wealth gap.

As far as blaming the victims goes that is off topic and I am not going to address it here because it will derail the thread topic.

What is worth pointing out is that stripmining the assets of the middle class is killing the golden goose. The middle class are the primary consumers who are responsible for 2/3rds of the economy of this nation. If you take away their jobs and assets and don't give them salary increases then they can no longer purchase products which result in corporate profits.

Protecting the middle class is GOOD for the economy of this nation. That is a genuine conservative position to take. Anything that harms the middle class is bad for this nation.

I agree that the political pendulum does swing and right now it is hard over to the right. It will swing back to the left at some point. Predicting when is more of an art than a science but it has a lot to do with the mood of the electorate.

Personally I am sick of both the political pendulum and the economic rollercoaster. A little stability in both areas would go a long way IMO.

Progressive taxation does not "punish the rich"! That is just extremist alt right disinformation.

The REALITY is that the wealthy have been REWARDED for sitting on their fat asses and doing nothing for being the welfare beneficiaries of TRILLIONS of taxpayer dollars.

Taxpayers are being punished by the wealthy because of Republican/Libertarian tax cuts that have done nothing but HARM We the People.

Taxes need to be put back to pre-Reagan era levels and a special surtax introduced on all incomes above $1 million until the national debt is paid off entirely.

    1. Random capitalization doesn't help make a point.

    2. Are you saying that there is no regulation of US businesses? The 10s of billions they spend on compliance every year says they are regulated to a pretty high degree.

    3. Victims of their own bad decisions should be blamed.

    3. Strip mining the middle class? A little heavy on a hyperbole don't you think?

There is NOTHING "nonpartisan" or "genuine" about that OP. The OPer has often made it clear he despises "genuine conservatives." But only a fool who knows his message history would believe his lecturing people on conservatism is sincere and anything but another hate attack put in another form.

Conservatives, true conservatives, historically have ALWAYS been nationalists - and far more than now. Fundamentally, conservatives have been isolationists and overwhelming "America First" and even "America Only."

Rather, the OP and huffington blog piece is consistent with the view of many Democrats that anyone who:
    1. does not openly hate the United States,
    2. does not openly hate the history of the United States,
    3. does not openly hate historic social values of the United States,
    4. does not openly hate Christianity and
    5. does not openly hate nearly all Americans is an evil "nationalist and fascist."

The Democratic party and the global super rich owned MSM propaganda outlets is going to fanatical lengths to redefine patriotism and national pride as "nationalism," and then just assert by repeating it millions of times that such "nationalists" are dangerous "fascists" to try to make calling someone a "nationalist" is a hate slur and a label everyone should do anything to avoid - and for which all enlightened people are globalists who condemn the USA and favor foreign sweatshops, foreign corporations, and anything else the global super rich want to take from the United States.

As for his urging being "respectful," as predictable as the sun rising he cites a blog calling all Republicans "white supremacists." So much for "respectful" and it just the same Democrat tripe crap of personal insults.

Personally, I see the rabid hatred coming from so many white liberals are really most often just the words of mindless spoiled brats raised in sheltered lives who take for granted everything they have and curse everything and everyone who provided it to them, while ranting they deserve more for nothing on their part in return.

    1. More random capitalization.

    2. The wealthy have been rewarded for being successful. For being smarter, faster, and even luckier than others. Unless, of course, you think Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Steve Jobs were just lazy slackers and the govt made them rich.

    3. Allowing people to keep more of the money they earn hurts no one.

    4. How do these extra taxes on the rich make poor people more wealthy? Also, do the pre reagan tax brackets also include the pre reagan deductions?

Lie. At NOT TIME did the Democrat Congress with a Democrat president eliminate ANY special exemptions for the rich, NEVER.

The solution was presented by a bipartisan commission of retired Democrats and Republicans from Congress. BOTH sides pointed out that the tax code is written by the rich buying off politicians. A flat tax at a very low rate universal to all would solve the budget problem. Otherwise, the tax rates are irrelevant because the rich buy off DEMOCRATS and REPUBLICANS for special tax exemptions.

The Democrats in Congress, like the Republicans, treated this recommendation with all the consideration of a box of poisonous snakes.

Simply put, you message is 1.) false and 2.) just partisan crap when it comes to taxes. Make the tax rate 99% of the super rich and they still will pay nothing. High tax rates do not affect the super rich. They hit people who worked all their lives to build a successful small business. They don't have hundreds of millions and billions to buy off the Democratic Party and Republican Party.

Hell, Congress has passed special laws to allow the super rich to import mega-million dollar super cars that fail to meet EPA and DOT standards, merely because they tossed some money to key Congress members on the right committee - Democrats included.

At best, your message on taxes is uninformed and naive partisanship.

The problem with such as Steve Jobs are special laws passed for him and the super rich - by Democrats and Republicans alike - allowing him to take BILLIONS tax free out of the USA and not pay a penny of taxes on the income. Essentially every major company does so. It is not a partisan issues. Democrats are as easily bought as Republicans and visa versa. They use social issues as diversionary topics and, of course, topics such as RUSSIA! RUSSIA! RUSSIA! ANYTHING to avoid the question why do the truly super rich pay no taxes, why do they get to write their own tax code exemptions? This is a topic NO ONE in either political party and NO candidate ever mentions.

It is impossible for many Democrats to not declare anyone who does not agree with the global super rich agenda are bigots, fascists and racists. This OP is such an example.

No, you actually mean "vote for socialism" in your comments, some bizarre view that genuine conservatives are globalist and socialists. Your OP is nonsense.

That's money that was earned overseas and has never touched US shores.

There is plenty to criticize about the special treatment the rich and some corporations get. I'm all for cutting all subsidies, tax breaks and backed loans by the federal govt. It's not their job to pick which companies and industries should be the winners and losers.

The Democratic Party certainly is no longer liberal. It is the party of 1.) War 2.) militarism and 3.) globalism in regards to jobs, ie support of moving American jobs to foreign sweatshops.

The few extreme special interests stances of the Democratic Party, such as trans-rights and other far left PCism, is just a diversion from the Democratic Party running to the ultra radical far right and even radical "nationalism" in terms of foreign military policy. Demanding war with Syria and even directly attacking Russia over Syria. Demanding a fanatical rebooting of the Cold War, now over 70 years old. Bombing and attacking more countries than every before in USA history under Obama. Giving the global super rich ANYTHING they want in legislation and exemptions. Cursing anyone trying to preserve American industry.

The OP shows the REAL problem, the fanatical degree to try to put everything into partisan politics, to just assert everything bad is Republican, when exactly everything whined about was done together in unison by both political party's politicians in Congress. It is because of such as the OPer there is no solution that is real, because politics is no different that picking which team of a football team you cheer - cheering your team and cursing the other. Facts? Reality? All irrelevant to anything.

So, for thousands of messages he will curse Republicans for exactly what Democrats in government also have done and do. Because of those of his blind level of partisanship in his messages, no real discussion of issues and change is even possible. Just cheer your team, no matter what they do - while hurling every hateful insult, accusation and name-calling he can think of at the other side. He actually may believe calling all Republicans "white supremacists" over and over and over and over means he wins. That is how just naive and foolish it gets.

Union bosses became rich and when they did the began acting like it.

Historically, trade unions vehemently opposed immigrant labor competing for jobs. But the union bosses became rich, totally unattached to their own members, and now are just another class of global super rich. The deals they want from companies are not for their members. The deal they want from companies is to collect their union dues. If so, that's enough. Then with that money they fly in their private jets the members paid for to go hang out with Democrats - who vow to continue to protect laws that force employees to pay union dues whether they want to or not, and whether or not the union bosses who get it are helping or hurting them.

Real trade unions largely went broke fighting for their members. For-union-bosses-profits unions essentially bought them out. For example, the Meatcutters Union - a militant old school for-the-workers union, was bought out by the UFCW, a sellout, sweetheart deal union - which agreed to pick up the debts of the Meatcutters union and assured their leadership their pensions would be paid. In turn, the UFCW got all the members - and within 2 years wages has been slashed and the UFCW literally crushing opposing local unions on behalf of the companies. This happened across most of the trade unions.

    Read the book
No Retreat, No Surrender: Labor's War at Hormel

Of the UFCW International joining forces with the company to crush the local union and local membership after the UFCW bought out the Meatcutters Union. The UFCW overall came to agree to wages often lower than paid in non-union companies.

    No, that's not accurate.

It is a simple question. Can a company sell products in the USA, claim no income in the USA and therefore pay no taxes in the USA because they claim to be a foreign corporation? The answer? Yes. Special exemptions in the tax code.

Local unions are a good thing. These large umbrella unions, like the AFL-CIO, quit being about workers and became about power and political influence fornthe Unions a long time ago
