The NYT, like the rest of the MSM has always been very biased and fact challenged.

    “Correction: June 16, 2017
An editorial on Thursday about the shooting of Representative Steve Scalise incorrectly stated that a link existed between political rhetoric and the 2011 shooting of Representative Gabby Giffords. In fact, no such link was established. The editorial also incorrectly described a map distributed by a political action committee before that shooting. It depicted electoral districts, not individual Democratic lawmakers, beneath stylized cross hairs.” America’s Lethal Politics, By THE EDITORIAL BOARD, JUNE 14, 2017. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/14/opinion/steve-scalise-congress-shot-alexandria-virginia.html?_r=0

Now the NYT has fired many of its copy editors. Fact checking is no longer a priority.

One reason is the adults have retired, leaving it to the twenty and thirty somethings that are social media savvy but fact check ignorant.

The copy editors were the rear guard for a retreating NYT.

“Under the new editing model at The New York Times, desk editors will handle all aspects of a story, through various drafts to a completely copy edited version. That's different from the current routine, where backfielders work with reporters to get a draft in shape before sending it to a copy editor for polishing and fact-checking.” POYNTER, New York Times copy editors are being encouraged to take buyouts today, By Benjamin Mullin • July 6, 2017.

Now there is nothing covering the Grey Lady's ugly butt.

I highlighted the part that right wing wonks and toadies simply refuse to acknowledge.
