The Industrial Age is usually said to have begun in 1760. Steel mills began in the 1850's. The Cicil war was from 1861-1865.

as i said before, the industrial revolution began around 1750, over 200 years ago

you're trying to spin everything and it's not working

yep, the birth of 'iron man'

"Coke pig-iron was hardly used to produce wrought iron in forges until the mid-1750s, when Abraham Darby II built 'Horsehay' and 'Ketley' blast-furnaces. By then, coke pig-iron was cheaper than charcoal pig-iron. Since cast-iron was becoming cheaper and more plentiful, it began being a structural material following the building of the innovative 'Iron Bridge' in 1778 by Abraham Darby III."

Scientist know which side their bread is being buttered and by whom just like most everyone else and the notion that they are any different from the rest of humanity as a whole is stupid.

most scientists don't make much, lobbyists and oil tycoons make tons of money

of course you can't refute the facts i posted

"'pre-industrial' means before the industrial revolution, over 200 years ago"

"the graph shows how data corresponds"

What facts did you post? Globel Temps are up less than a degree over the last 25 years? This is what you want me to worry about? When theres and asteroid ot there somewhere out there with our name on it? When we are within the period of the Yellowstone super volcano? When the Azores are in danger of a volcanic collpaes that would potentially hit the east coast with a 100 meter tsunami? When the west coast is threaten with an equally bad tsunami should Mauna loa collapse? If you want to worry about some pick something that's actually a damn problem not something that's more likely to end world wide hunger in the immediate future.

Members here can argue against GW all they want but there is ONE INDISPUTABLE FACT!!

That being that due to overall higher global temps. Polar and Greenland Glacier Ice Melt is causing the worlds oceans or sea levels to RISE AT AN UNPRECEDENTED RATE!!

Coastal U.S. Cities such as Boston, NY, Miami...etc.....are spending BILLIONS UPON BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to combat rising ocean sea levels by building everything from coastal breakwaters and damns and dikes to building Multi-Billion Dollar Ocean Water Pumping Stations like in NY and Miami as sea levels are so high RIGHT NOW that even a small or moderate storm water surges are COMPLETELY FLOODING the streets of such cities and flooding the street drainage and sewer systems thus these massive pumping stations are necessary.

So members can argue all they want but what is HAPPENING NOW cannot be denied!!

i posted data-sets of average global temperature anomaly from six different sources

"Global temperature changes from multiple datasets, presented as the lower bound on warming since the pre-industrial era. Updated from Hawkins et al. with the 2016 global temperature data."

Again As I said you are postulating an average temp rise of less than a degree in the last 35 years. Much of that comprised of warmer winters, and you act like this is some sort of major problem.

Land temperatures are not the problem - it's the rise in ocean temperatures that is the threat and the oceans are trapping a larger percentage of the change.

Again. Coral reefs begin to bleach when there is a 2 degree rise in average temperature. If the temperature remains above average, for more than a month, the coral dies. The Great Barrier Reef lost 28% of it's coral to bleaching in the last 18 months. Hawaii and most Pacific Islands are reporting bleaching of at least 10%.

This is observable. It is not subject to partisan politics. It's not something that MAY happen. It IS happening. Period. It is not an arguable fact. It just IS.

as has already been demonstrated, even half of one degree centigrade is significant

"The Paris Agreement, which delegates from 196 countries hammered out in December 2015, calls for holding the ongoing rise in global average temperature to “well below 2 °C above pre-industrial levels,” while “pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 °C.” How much difference could that half-degree of wiggle room (or 0.9 degree on the Fahrenheit scale) possibly make in the real world? Quite a bit, it appears.

The European Geosciences Union published a study in April 2016 that examined the impact of a 1.5 degree Celsius vs. a 2.0 C temperature increase by the end of the century, given what we know so far about how climate works. It found that the jump from 1.5 to 2 degrees—a third more of an increase—raises the impact by about that same fraction, very roughly, on most of the phenomena the study covered. Heat waves would last around a third longer, rain storms would be about a third more intense, the increase in sea level would be approximately that much higher and the percentage of tropical coral reefs at risk of severe degradation would be roughly that much greater.

But in some cases, that extra increase in temperature makes things much more dire. At 1.5 C, the study found that tropical coral reefs stand a chance of adapting and reversing a portion of their die-off in the last half of the century. But at 2 C, the chance of recovery vanishes. Tropical corals are virtually wiped out by the year 2100.

With a 1.5 C rise in temperature, the Mediterranean area is forecast to have about 9 percent less fresh water available. At 2 C, that water deficit nearly doubles. So does the decrease in wheat and maize harvest in the tropics.

On a global scale, production of wheat and soy is forecast to increase with a 1.5 C temperature rise, partly because warming is favorable for farming in higher latitudes and partly because the added carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which is largely responsible for the temperature increase, is thought to have a fertilization effect. But at 2 C, that advantage plummets by 700 percent for soy and disappears entirely for wheat."

For the second time in this thread the coral bleaching in Australia isn't being caused by temperature rises it is being caused by an over abundance of crown of thorns starfish caused by excessive agricultural run off.

warmer water is a major cause of coral bleaching, although other factors do contribute

with rising ocean temperatures, warmer water is bleaching coral

"Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority Chairman Dr Russell Reichelt said all six reefs surveyed had experienced thermal stress, following 12 months of sustained above-average temperatures across the Great Barrier Reef and current sea temperatures approximately 2 degrees Celsius warmer than average."

at 0:34 - "these plant cells produce food for the coral, from the sun's energy; but, when the water gets too warm this relationship goes out of balance"

at 1:29 - "the cause is simply climate change"

    https://www.barrierreef.org/latest/news/coral-bleaching-update

"Warmer water temperatures can result in coral bleaching. When water is too warm, corals will expel the algae (zooxanthellae) living in their tissues causing the coral to turn completely white. This is called coral bleaching. When a coral bleaches, it is not dead. Corals can survive a bleaching event, but they are under more stress and are subject to mortality.

In 2005, the U.S. lost half of its coral reefs in the Caribbean in one year due to a massive bleaching event. The warm waters centered around the northern Antilles near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico expanded southward. Comparison of satellite data from the previous 20 years confirmed that thermal stress from the 2005 event was greater than the previous 20 years combined."

The LIG surface temperature at the upstream NEEM deposition site without ice sheet altitude correction is estimated to be warmer by +8.5 ± 2.5 °C compared to the preindustrial period.

    http://www.clim-past.net/12/1933/2016/

    8.5°C corresponds to 15.3°F.

Estimates indicate that the MIS 11 high sea stand likely was at least + 9 m (relative to present sea level) and could have been as high as + 24 m. The most conservative estimates of palaeo-sea level during MIS 11 would require an ice mass loss equivalent to all of the modern Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets; the more extreme estimates would require additional ice mass loss from the East Antarctic ice sheet.

Explain to me how ocean temperatures are rising faster than land temperatures when water sucks as a means of heat transfer.

Never said they were. But then sea levels are not rising equally every where. In fact, the US east coast has been under going subsidence as a function of beach erosion almost since the European and American plates separated.

Land is always moving. Some areas have sea levels falling due to the land still rebounding from the loss of the last glaciation glaciers.

So Deniers are now saying that subsidence and increased ocean levels can't happen at the same time?

That's just stupid. In fact rising sea levels exacerbate the subsidence where it occurs...

The East Coast is being effected faster due to the Glacier Greenland ice melt and North Pole ice melt.
