Every time I hear some Leftist say "science denier", it just cracks me up. What a vacuous ideology.

 

I think many factors may lead people into awareness of, or belief about, their gender identity.

And I do think mental illness can be a factor.

But it also seems clear that there's a great deal more to be learned, and it would be great if both sides could proceed with maximum kindness, always supported by what is reasonable.

 

Things were a lot easier to figure out 50 years ago than they are today.

1) there are only two factors in gender, 'being a boy' and 'being a girl'. Anything else is psychological (thoughts). And we can no more accommodate thoughts about one particular physical characteristic than we can thoughts about any other physical characteristic. I think I'm enormously fat and very tall, even though I'm short and skinny (I don't really, but good example). Which me will you accommodate, the non-existent enormously fat and very tall me, or the actual me?

2) mental illness is the ONLY factor.

3) there is nothing more to be learned other than science. any other 'learning' on this topic is anything but. meantime, why on earth would you mention 'kindness'? this is a discussion about the hard facts of gender confusion. it's a not a love-in.

 

Well, that is convenient. I never really understood why you had to have a prescription to get them anyways. Sure, they can have some side effects, but so can most medicines.

 

That is not another gender. It is a genetic mutation and quite rare.

Who knows whether defect or evolution or simply different.

The subject of the OP is that genitals may not determine gender, and that's clearly true for millions, and also when this might best be broached with children, and that's much less clear, but up to individual parents.

 

1) False. Millions are biological "others" that we know of. And there's no doubt a great deal that we don't know about brain orientation and development that may further scientifically validate transgenderism.

2) False. Biology plays a role in millions of known instances. Psychology may play a role in other instances.

3) Science applied without kindness is brutality, and science needs to learn a great deal more to understand this condition. "Gender confusion" and transgenderism may be based in biological factors, psychological factors, social factors, or some combination of these.

 

It is other, it is complication, it is proof that for millions, gender is not a simple black and white matter.

Those are genetic mutations nonetheless. They are a medical anomaly. Not a "normal state of being" such as male or female.

Generally speaking, you're correct, but exceptions occur.

Unisex accommodations seem the best way forward.

 

You mean EXCEPTIONS to the equality everyone else lives under for the transgendered. INEQUALITY by design for their benefit.

 

Normally, you wouldn't even know. It's not like they walk around showing people.
