This has been the most significant documentary I have viewed lately.

The Frontline documentary on Hillary and Donald was excellent.

Although Hillary is now irrelevant, the part about Donald is still relevant, since we will be stuck with him for the next 1,347 days, and counting down.

The next POTUS will probably be either Pence or Kaine.

Yes!! Really good docos. Two of my favourites are Jesus in Siberia; a guy named vissarion claims he's Jesus and has a small following in the forests of Siberia. Hilarious but sadly true.

And their undercover trip to North Korea - a fascinating look at one of the most if not the most closed country on earth.

Oliver Stone's The Putin Interviews is excellent. I watch LOTS of docos on many topics, I really enjoyed watching Oliver Stone's interviews with Putin.

i too love documentaries and have some here that you might like, you said commentary is optional if the titles speak for themselves so i'll just put these here for if you're interested. The titles are all from the original videos to find the correct one on YouTube so will not provide the links unless requested. If i had to pick just one of these to completely look for and watch it would be The Money Masters although all of these documentaries are top notch. As always, do what you can to help where needed

This documentary's more of an 1980's nod to fictional Time Travel with a bit of scientific theory thrown in for good measure.
I also see the actress from BTTF part 3 mentioned in another time travel movie before BTTF part 3 was a thing.
So, it's great for the genre of Time Travel, and looks at examples from fiction.
but, it was alright for what it was and when it was shot, and edited so, yeah, I liked it...
Certainly helped me remember things I've seen on TV before if not teaching me about other productions that I hadn't seen before on Time Travel in science fiction..

Strange that no one is talking about the Vietnam documentary that is currently being shown on PBS.

So far from what I've seen, it is a fair and objective presentation about the imperialistic war imposed on the good people of Vietnam by the warmongering war profiteering terrorists in Congress, the Pentagon, and military industrial complex.

I dunno....I've been watching and I am on episode 4. Like the first time around years ago, I felt that it got a full on anti war sentiment, and it focuses on the Americans, the VC's (tried to "humanize" them) while completely ignored the ARVN. And the only time they bring out the ARVN is to show the "atrocity" that was committed a la Loan shot a VC through the head on live TV.

I can't watch an episode all at one time, because it makes me want to puke.

    I Am Not Your Negro

Excellent documentary shown this evening on PBS's Independent Lens tv series. It addresses many of the racial issues and answers the pretensions many right wingers have about ours being a non-racist society. It is a good bet that many right wingers on this forum will be too afraid of watching it as they might learn something that will destroy the myths they live by.

I saw a good one but it's kinda long.

It's basically science and crime in America.
almost 2 hours long but I liked it, had me gripped until the end one morning/lie in.

The World's First Time Machine by The Discovery Channel; filmed at City Hall (lol)...
In this they explain the two theories of forward time travel and travel into the past.

If you like history I would like to suggest Mike Duncan. These aren't videos, they're a series of podcasts. Everything offered is free to download, you get hundreds of hours of information entertainingly presented.

His first project was "The History of Rome", which covers the Roman Empire from the myth of Aeneas after the sack of Troy up to Odoacer exiling a young Romulus Augustulus to an estate in Campania. It's complete, 179 episodes, total running time of 74 hours. Note on this one, Mike was just getting started, the first dozen or so episodes are a bit rough, technically speaking and in his delivery. They get much better as you progress.

    http://thehistoryofrome.com/episodes/

When that was finished Mike started "Revolutions", covering various revolutions in history, in chronological order. So far completed:

    English Civil War.
    American War of Independence
    French Revolution
    Haitian Indepencence
    Latin American Independence
    French Revolution of 1830
    Revolutions of 1848

    These also have multi-episodes treatment.
