I agree mostly. Our Special Operators get paid to seek out terrorists in unknown places. They need to keep doing that. Regular forces should leave

They've been over there dying for 8 long years under Obama with little to no results.

Please link us to your vehement disapproval.

Spec ops are there for that reason though, so I agree.

And the diplomatic solution should be between India, Pakistan and ending that charade between them.

I've always opposed the Afghanistan war. Always.

So you excuse more soldiers dying because... Obama?

Your relentless repetition of the same odious and annoying nonsense is getting really tiresome.

And we need to find out if the US Navy has been rendered obsolete by new cyber tech before we make any aggressive military move - anywhere.

I don't excuse any soldier dying in a political war. The mission has changed.

BTW, did you oppose the war in Afghanistan when the Taliban were running the place and flying planes into your civilians?

I have always opposed going into Afghanistan. End of story. I couldn't care less what the Taliban did. They were not the primary vectors for 9/11. That was someone else.

I see. Perhaps the reasons for your opposition are your misconceptions.

Anyway, let's oppose the new mission of killing terrorists. Horrible game plan.

I say ask the people that will do the heavy lifting, the troops, not people on internet forums, not politicians, not the Generals but the boots on the ground. If the troops say do it then do it. Then and only then let the Generals plan and strategize. I will add one caveat, make it possible to shoot these a$$es without 15 people taking an hour to make the decision.

Not all Iraqis and Afghans are the enemy.

He's drawing the distinction, which is a necessary thing to do to remind your troops.

By engaging the enemy when we need to, and hunting them down.

We are no longer fighting a defensive war. That was something the generals tried to get through to Obama, but he never allowed them to do their jobs.

That's how ISIS formed and spread.

Yea! Balance the Budget by spending more on war! That has always worked in the past, right?

It is sitting on an ocean of oil. Invest in alternative energy, get off the oil tit and leave it for them to figure it out.

Free the industrialized world of dependence on oil and you'll greatly reduce the Russian problem too.

Right. They should vote on how to go about it since it's their lives on the line.

    Three options:

    1) leave, and allow Afghanistan to become one big terrorist camp

    2) bring 500,000 troops and piss of 90% of America

    3) bring enough troops to avoid major losses and keep the terrorists out

One of the primary points made by the OP is that the main group that is criticizing Trump is Breitbart, i.e. one the most enthusastic and vocal Trump supporters. His base. And several of his most vocal and ardent supporters, like American nationalist, on this forum have echoed that criticism.

Meanwhile, some of his most vocal critics, like Tres Borrachos, have voiced support for some of the reason you mentioned (being willing to admit he was wrong and listen to competent advisers).

But yes, those who are most critical of him - like myself - remain so because his new "policy" was incoherent. On one hand, he said that we aren't nation building, but on the other hand he included a line about the US not being willing to limit available resources. On one hand, we want to see reforms from Afghanistan (and are willing to remove support absent reforms), but on the other hand he did not say what reforms are desired.

Like the man said, let them govern their own country. Don't try to install one that we have to run. The US is only there to kill terrorists.
