Out of approximately 50,000 total evening news stories on ABC, CBS and NBC combined in the last four years, just 25 have covered the ongoing crisis in socialist Venezuela, according to a Media Research Center study published Tuesday.
After Venezuela’s former socialist president, Hugo Chávez, passed away in March 2013, the country has spiraled into economic disaster and civil chaos. So far in 2017, more than 50 Venezuelans have been killed during protests against current Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his socialist policies. Many Venezuelans are starving due to shortages of food and other essentials. The country’s inflation rate is set to surpass 700 percent and 25 percent of Venezuelans will be unemployed.
“Yet the Big Three evening newscasts have tried to pretend this crisis does not exist, offering virtually no coverage as the situation has deteriorated over the past four years,” MRC Research Analyst Mike Ciandella wrote.
“The networks have also been reluctant to attach the ‘socialist’ label to Venezuela’s government, and have utterly failed to criticize liberal politicians and celebrities who have praised the Chávez and Maduro regimes,” Ciandella added.
Indeed, out of the 50,000 total evening news stories on the three networks, just 25 covered Venezuela, and only seven mentioned “socialism.” In addition, NBC Nightly News only broadcast 13 stories spanning 16 minutes and 54 seconds, ABC’s World News only covered 8 minutes and 34 seconds over seven stories, and CBS Evening News only offered 3 minutes and 11 seconds over five stories.
“The network evening news programs seem allergic to reporting on the ongoing crisis in Venezuela,” Ciandella told LifeZette in an email. “Even worse, the few times they have managed to cover the widespread poverty, starvation and government oppression in that country, they somehow find ways to do that without mentioning the word ‘socialism.'”
Ciandella noted that the three networks aired no stories when Maduro took advantage of a countrywide power outage to stamp out as much opposition as he could in September 2013. When Maduro used the powers he gave himself to rule the country in a state of “emergency” that superseded the National Assembly’s voice, the media networks were silent.
After the anti-socialists elected a majority to the National Assembly in December 2015 and Maduro’s loyalist Supreme Court decided to strip the Assembly of its power on May 18, the media yawned.
On occasion, one of the three major news networks will drop a rare mention of the word “socialism” in connection with the Venezuela crisis in its coverage. As MRC noted, one of those exceptions was correspondent Jacob Rascon on April 20’s NBC Nightly News.
They get a free pass for that, and can do whatever they want without criticism.
“The Venezuelan economy has been in freefall for years … protesters blamed President Nicolas Maduro and his socialist government,” Rascon said.
CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley offered another exception on May 4, when he said, “Running battles continue in Venezuela’s capital. They broke out a month ago when the socialist president tried to grab more power. At least 37 have been killed.”
But all too often, the media turn a blind eye to the atrocities and tragedies that fester in Venezuela, along with the root causes underlying them.

It’s just Progressive Socialist Marxist denial. Socialism can’t fail. Why would they (PSML) criticize what they long for here? Do you notice that PSML's never call something socialism if it doesn’t work (which is all the time)? It doesn’t matter if there’s starvation in the streets because the celebrities in the media will still live in luxury.
It’s okay with the PSML, because Venezuela takes money from those who earn it, seizes US factories, gives money to the “poor,” and redistributes the riches to its communist dictators, and hates the USA.
I challenge our PSML's to get on down there. “If you are convinced Socialism can work if you are involved, here is your big opportunity. Better get down there and help out before it is too late.”
The media were all over Venezuela's Hugo Chavez when he was taunting George W. Bush. Now the are too biased to expose their failed ideology in another failed attempt to impose their ideology on others.

Bernie's Utopian dream for America. Shattered. Dims, bring some REAL candidates to the table next time you want a President. If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got.

Wow!! That is really a step beyond to far. The reason for the straits that Venezuela is in today is because they ran out of other people's money. They nationalized all industry then ran them till they couldn't produce the wealth they once had. A good example is the oil, coffee, cocoa, cotton, steel, Chemicals, Aluminum and bauxite for export. Today people are starving while the elitist Marxists benefit. The position of Venezuelan trade appeared favorable, taking into account the fact that it had been able to lower its reliance on the US for foreign investment. According to the CIA World Fact Book, Venezuela had a trade surplus of $10.95 billion in 2009. Ten billion iis the same amount that the family of Chavez is reportedly in their personal bank in Switzerland.

"In 2008, crude oil production in Venezuela was the tenth-highest in the world at 2,394,020 barrels per day (380,619 m3/d) and the country was also the eighth-largest net oil exporter in the world. Venezuela is a founder member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC)".

They're busy on the destruction of the American hegemony and its leadership role in the world as Trump rushes to piss off all of our former allies and tries once again to bring the US economy to its pre-Obama years.

We do know that Maxine Waters a close friend of Bernie's is more than happy to nationalize(Socialize) all business in America. Bernie may not say the same but their ideology is surely in simpatico.

Socializing oil companies: Back in 2008, Waters was lecturing oil company executives at a congressional hearing when she plainly stated her true intentions: “Guess what this liberal would be all about? This liberal would be about socializing … uh, umm. … Would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies.”

Oh so true. the citizens of Venezuela are all equally poor today and starving, except for the few faithful followers of Chavez/Maduro... Even the daughter of Hugo Chavez has bailed out from Venezuela taking the more than $4 billion dollars Chavez stole from the people.

I could be wrong, but politicians never actually tell you what they are going to do. If they did, they wouldn't get elected. Case in point, John McCain; he got reelected because he said he was going to vote to repeal Obamacare.

Case in point. Trump got elected because he was going to build a wall and have Mexico pay for it, and he was going to take care of everybody, everybody was going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now, and the repeal was going to end with a "beautiful picture".

They all lie. It's up to the suckers not to believe their lies.

Maybe the media understands that Venezuela is not the only socialist country in the world?

I’m not in the media, but I think if I were and someone was spouting about the evils of socialism by marshaling Venezuela into their argument, I’d feel compelled to ask them about our NATO allies, who happen to be more socialist than we are and a better comparison to the types of things (like healthcare) that some Americans believe are good ideas, even if they’re socialist.

In the Worker's Paradise of Socialist Venezuela:

Venezuelan Women Forced To Turn To Prostitution To Afford Food
    [IMG]
"We’ve got lots of teachers, some doctors, many professional women and one petroleum engineer..."
    .
Dayana is a 30-year-old mother of four who found herself struggling to feed her family in Caracas. Seven months ago, she came to Colombia looking for work. Without an employment permit, she found herself working as a prostitute in the capital, Bogotá. Dayana said she used to be the manager of a food-processing plant on the outskirts of Caracas, but that job disappeared after the government seized the factory and “looted it,” she said.

Dayana claims she can make between $50-$100 per night by selling herself for 20 minutes at a time.

“Prostitution obviously isn’t a good job,” she said.

“But I’m thankful for it because it’s allowing me to buy food and support my family.”

Trumpp is not a politician and did not lie. The problem is that the Republicans turned out to be nothing but pure politicians.
