I watched the opening of the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals game and was not impressed

Jerry Jones was in a tough spot

He tried mightily to thread the needle between appeasing his black players who make up about 75% of the NFL and the fans who do not enjoy seeing overpaid atheletes disrespecting the flag

    How did he do?

I suppose they met the minimum standard

No players beat up a cop or spit on the flag or threw excrement at the veterans in the honor guard

Instead they locked arms like a bunch of sissy's and none of them showed any respect or love for their country by placing their hand over their heart

After that I turned off the tv and watched no more

I'm right here on this site tonight and didn't even turn on the TV. I had more than enough politics in football which most of tune into to get away from politics. Not get more. I want my politics here, not on any football field. If those players want to get involved in politics, let them go on MSNBC's Maddow's show or something akin to that. I'll not watch another football game as long as politics is being displayed on the field.

Politics has no place in an NFL game. Politics has a place here on this site, on these late night TV political talk shows, even on the nightly news. But not on the football field.

Liberals have been politicizing sports for several years now most recently with the gay bathroom issue in college sports and now the NFL.

A curse on all the players and black race baiters

How is kneeling disrespecting the flag? Unless I kneel down, point my dick down on a replica of the American flag, and let loose on national television, just kneeling is not disrespecting the flag. You guys (the conservatives as a whole) really need to get you act together, and stop considering this an act of sacrilege.

The proper thing to do during the playing of the national anthem is to stand up face the flag and place your hand over your heart.

I realize that many liberal slobs were not taught respect in the public schools

but those of us that do know can reconize willful disrespect when we see it.

The problem is it is simply a piece of fanfare, a musical piece no longer than two commercials combined. I haven't heard the National Anthem since I was in high school.

There really is no solid justification for the outrage that has been displayed. Rational thinkers like myself can't get their heads around the emotional attachment that would cause a uproar that defies logic.

No, I guess you don't feel any love or respect for your country

And those who don't are too far gone for explainations now

Which is why America has become such a divided country

Jerry Jones just proved tonight that the Right being angry at the players has NOTHING to do about disrespecting the flag.

This OP proves it as well.

Actually, kneeling is a form of deference and worship. But the players intend it to be a sign of disrespect.

True disrespect would be to stand and turn their back to the flag. They don't have the balls to do that.

    I'm sure they would.

Where did we get the idea the players ever meant for it to be a sign of disrespect?

They claim Trump politicized the NFL, but as with so much, the left politicized it first. So many institutions controlled by the left. You can hardly watch a TV show or movie without the leftist spin. Schools and now sports.

We can protest back on them by buying an antenna (rabbit ears) from Target for $20, and drop cable TV. That DIRECTLY takes away monthly revenue from ESPN, MSNBC, CNN, and others, and it eventually might lower NFL player salaries.

I get around 50 channels broadcast free in a 1.5 million population area. You'll have to use the TV's scanner to find most of the channels (ex. 4-1, 4-2, 5-1, 5-2, 5-3 ... etc). The vast majority of it is free of politics. I'm dollars ahead, but the best part is I don't get brainwashed.

For liberals peaceful protest is definately better than ambushing police officers or setting off bombs in a crowded mall

But not peaceful protest during football season on national tv

They are paid to play football not community organizing

Of course the players were disrespecting the flag when they refused to take the field or kneeled during the national anthem

Maybe the NFL learned a painful lesson from the Sunday games about the fan reaction to player disrespect since by Monday they are taking a more moderate approach

When players choose the playing of the national anthem as their moment of protest by not standing respectfully the fans take that as disrespect for the flag and the country

The flag is not just a piece of cloth but symbolizes our entire culture including loving our country and those who have served it some of whom gave their life, blood and treasure for it.

The National Anthem is not just a song but a symbol of unity DESPITE our differences in politics etc. It has been sung since 1862 when it was first used to dedicate our first baseball stadium in NYC. We stand and put our hands over our hearts when not in uniform to tell everyone how we feel. When we all do it together it states we are one country united together although we are diverse in our beliefs and politics.

We show our respect for each other, those who served and died before us and those that will in the future.

Why can't people pick a better situation to protest? They have the rest of their lives. This has nothing to do with race or the first amendment. It is PC run amok showing no respect for fellow man or our great country.

Being able to do something is not the same as having common sense not to do so at the wrong time and place. Do you fart in church or stand up at a funeral and protest?

Just shut up and show some common decency and act like you have some dignity if only for yourself.
