"The chancellor has labelled the European Union's Brexit negotiators as "the enemy" - a remark he subsequently described as a "poor choice of words"."

It isn't often that this man, who has as much personality as a termite, gets something right, but when he does, guess what? Why, he apologises for it! [IMG] They are 'the enemy', and because they're all enraged by Brexit, they'll hate us forever. Not that they've ever liked us - they've only liked our membership contributions!

I guess it's bad if we want to have an EU UK trade deal.
UK can't hate the EU if it wants to trade with the EU and not as the EU in the EU.

The EU might as well be putting up a tariff. "Pay us money or we'll stop trading with you"
It's basically the same in terms of economic effect.

The EU threatens to block any deals, not to block Brexit.
So naturally, no deal is an option the UK is looking into.
WTO tariff and whatnot, stuff to that effect @kazenatsu

Getting them to all agree on a deal is easy, you simply bribe them all.

Here is 4 billion quid each if you agree the UK can leave the EU.

    total 100 billion.

Agreement is for sale, but it's valueless to us.
We've left anyway. Whether they agree or not.

If they wish to charge us for negotiating a new agreement with the EU, then they should.
If they want us to pay a Gazillion £ before they offer us a new EU membership or trade deal, go for it.
    Make your offer.

I'm not actually looking for what they are selling in the first place so, er...
For these negotiations to work, the EU must offer the UK money.

    We must be net recipients.
They owe us and we need to see clear sign that they are ready and willing to repay.
Demonstration that they are not just trying to continue the existing exploitation.

That's the elephant in the room - there are so many of them they can all take turns making various demands, most of which will be impossible to meet, but if we're stupid enough to meet one to get negotiations back on track, then it's 'everybody up one' and the next in line of the 27 will make a demand, then the next, ad infinitum, and the exit will take not years but decades. This is what happens when bureaucrats are given free rein - it's like trying to walk through treacle and getting nowhere fast. A clean break is the only way we're going to get out of this charade, but there are too many vested interests in keeping it chugging along for as long as possible. And the charlatans will do exactly that! Why do we kow-tow to these bloody foreigners and their terms and conditions all the time? Why this humiliating servility by our politicians? Why so many Remainers? Like we don't know the answer to all that - think 'pension scheme'??

Its the only game in town at the moment. Brexit is taking all the political oxygen so all want to have their ha'peth worth wether its bollox or not. As long as they get their faces on the telly they don't give a monkey's chuff. Even the papers are licking any arse that wants to put put the mockers on any sort of intelligent discussion - too may sound bites no real debate.
