The premise of associating people with groups that they have no choice over is a bit odd to logic and reasoning which are the bases of reality. Judging people based on creed, social standings, and physical identity is a false perimeter of justification, when it comes to human interaction. What I base my classifications of people on, deals with experiences. I have found in my short time of living, that people are prone to justify classifications of others to maintain their own biases. In reality, when people are looking to justify certain biases, they seek out that which will justify their preconceived notions. What I am saying is that often we intentionally attract people to us that will fulfill what we are looking for.

Generally speaking, that seems right to me. Perhaps a couple exceptions.

You judge people by individual actions and values.
However, things that they do have a choice about do matter. IF you choose to join a gang for example- be it black gang like the crips or more hispanic one like MS13, you have made a choice. If you hold beliefs that are part of a widespread concept, that too is a choice. If you sympathize and rationalize bad behavior, that is a choice. All those choices will be part of what defines you.

Color is not a choice. National origin is not a choice. .
Most physical parameters- your height, the color of your hair or eyes, etc- are not choices. After that, the list of things you have no power over gets pretty short.

Religion is a choice, even if you were raised in one, you can change that.
The values you learned from those you grew up with or hang our with can be changed.
Your attitude towards all kinds of social values- work, dependency, honesty, etc- can be changed.
Your social standing is something you can change as well- by conduct, resourcefulness, ambition. The fact that some people refuse to acknowledge your accomplishments and even may attempt to minimize them only makes a difference if you allow it to.

It requires courage to be who you are- and self-respect and self-discipline to live it. When you do, you earn both your own approval plus the acceptance and appreciation of other good people. While a great many people can't seem to find that courage or those qualities within themselves, they do exist- they too are a choice

A good compromise might be to refrain from burning them and their families alive. That's a good starting point.

so the USA invaded Iraq so as to punish Saddam for giving Palestinians money?

sounds like Israel's problem to solve, not the USA's

more than 4,000 US troops killed in the Iraq War, maybe 1 million Iraqis dead.

and we did it for Israel you say?

That's a decent start. Another good compromise would be to not deny them their freedom of speech. Then you could compromise and permit them all of their rights. Nothing beyond that is required. Don't associate with them, whatever. But they are human and therefore are entitled to certain rights.

No compromise leads down the path to Japanese internment camps and the such.

Of course, but it's absurd to demand we evolve past our basic instinct to pattern seek. Only those living in complete and utter safety have the hubris to insist that we ought to be 'above' it.

So, your expectation (borne of lack of exposure to a dangerous world outside the ivory tower) that we can completely ignore basic survival instincts, is far more irrational.

In the rich and free west, it requires no capital to ensure your kids are educated out of poverty. It just takes the will to do it.

Racism is not about hating or not hating. It's more about the concept that "races" exist as a defining characteristic of groups of human beings.

They don't.... There is no such thing as "races" in any objective sense applicable to human beings.

Wrong. The racist argument is that Negroes have measurably smaller brains, particularly the frontal lobe. And therefore have no control over their behavior.

You forgot the part about them blowing themselves up on city buses. You sound so much like Neville Chamberlain and the Nazi's. If we just leave them alone, they'll leave us alone, How'd that work out for Neville?

if we invaded Iraq due to Saddam's funding of terrorists, why do we love and support Saudi Arabia even though they used to fund Hamas and still fund extremists all over the world?

    hmmmm????

Liberals (most, not all) pretend to know more then anyone who doesn’t lock step with them, including knowing who those people are, what they think (mind readers), and most importantly, what is best for them as they are too ignorant to know what the elite educated leftist already knows.

    Spiritgide,

Your post is logical and for the most part comes from your personality, just as all of the posts that I present for perusal on this website. Where I oppose, is the concept of being accepted and approved, to me this is demonstrates insecurity of a person's own thinking power, which is a negation of a person's own power, which makes said person, god. I know that many will disagree with my statement about power and god. Ask yourself the following question; what is a god other than that which possesses and demonstrates power? With that being established; the preface of this post, when you pointed out that reality of not being recognized for accomplishment, it goes beyond this clear and salient point. The reality is that when faced with such opposition, you should ask yourself the following question, would it be better for me to establish my own with like-minded people, and not have to be subjected to such unwarranted opposition to the fulfillment of my aspiration(s)? The reality is what most refuses to accept and acknowledge the reality of the environment in which we live. Take what is called religion, political motivation, which is hinged upon a person’s religious identity, which also includes economics. Gangs in the modern-era are representations of the failings of the given societal segment under discussion and their lack of economic motivation, which is tied directly to political motivation, which is tied directly to education, which is tied directly to religious affiliation and the ideology of said religion. There are five spheres of human activity which are: education, economics, religion, politics and entertainment. Even if one of these spheres is under the control of another, all efforts after that point are futile. To put it bluntly, the old pie-in-the-sky does not make an excellent motivator of people, it only makes slaves, and slaves produce nothing and are in need of everything.

I differ with you over Hamas because Hamas is a duly elected representative of the Palestinians, but I digress. My open contention with the Saudi Royals is their spreading of Wahhabi madness. It is because of this why I am not surprised about Occidental support for the House of Saud, which by the way was established by the British Crown.

Obviously you didn't get it as intended.
First- I don't believe there is such a thing as a god; but I do believe in a higher power, from which I have learned how to succeed as a human being, which has also provided me with the ability to succeed in the various pursuits that all men would like to have- love, happiness, success. I accept that I alone am responsible for what I think and believe, and I measure myself by my own expectations, by performance that supports the values I respect- and would respect in others. That IS the source of personal power, of control over your own life and destiny, to the degree that any of us can have. What other people think is secondary- it's nice to have their endorsement, but that will not be what defines me or chooses my path. If none approved of me, I would certainly ask myself why and look to see if I had failed to meet my own standards- but I wouldn't re-write anything to buy approval.

I'm about as independent as they come in this respect. I build partnerships, and I do not support adversarial relationships. I can't stop other people from thinking adversarially of course, and literally making their own misery. .

As to the "fives spheres", I'm not sure how you are drawing your conclusions. Things such as education, economics and religion are always linked. Educations teaches them. Economics controls education to some degree. Religion influences everything- often very badly- because it dictates how people think in the first place. They simply don't disconnect.

Religion in the normal sense does not apply to me at all, I know that there is no "god", nobody you can negotiate with or beg favor from. My Higher Power is the ultimate teacher- Mother Nature. Having run the world since time began, having millions of species thrive by a few simple principles, I eventually figured out that the true source that controlled our lives and could allow us to understand had to be within that power- and I eventually found that nature regulates life with a few core principles. Took me 38 years to find out what they area and how they work. At 75- all I can say is that everything I ever needed to know is there for anyone open minded enough to recognize it.

Ask yourself how, for example, you can go to a virgin coral reef and see a multitude of creatures of all sizes, of all natures, of all powers, all living in a harmony that does not trash their environment or consume their resources- yet they all thrive together. There are no religions, no lawyers or politicians, no psychiatrists- none of the multitude of things we use to try and bring order to our lives, with very poor success. A logical person would ask- What do they know that we don't know? I've been there perhaps a thousand times, and asked that question every time. Eventually, it just appeared; I got the answer. Nothing has been the same since. Unlike what we all expect, it's not complicated at all. I can write the core principles on a business card, everything else follows and falls into place. Incredibly simple.

There is an old saying sometimes attributed to Buddha: "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear".
It means that the teacher is always present, but the student does not see.... and therefore cannot learn.

Of all the species on earth- man has perhaps the greatest potential, but is the most likely to bring about their own extinction. Far too many of us think we can make up the fundamental principles and ignore what we don't want to believe.

    Spiritgide,
I posted what I did to demonstrate why particular groupings and peoples within the system of control, I mean, government that affords your ability to achieve and succeed. To make the statement that you are independent is not exactly realistic. The system of control, i.e., government that you have developed within was designed for exactly that purpose. I can guarantee if you and others where not in such a system, you would find it a difficult task to achieve as you have done. I posted what I did because the current topic of this discussion is racism, so I have given a partial account as to why Black people, of who I am one of the particular populations, have achieved so little. Because most Black people within the country called The United States are beholden to the religion of Christianity, which is a slave-making religion, teaches that heaven is some far off place, those who believe in such bedtyme stories, are subject to others, who know exactly their power as God within their own lives. I myself do not believe in in some none-existent entity, I believe in the power of Man and Mankind. All five spheres of human endeavor play a crucial role in a person's psychological make-up and profile. Because all five spheres of human endeavor have been effectively wrestled out of the reach of Black folks, due to the psychological trauma of racism, I even find it difficult to achieve because no man is an island, we are all dependent upon the environment which is constructed for and by people. Knowing this, your achievements are based upon a system that was and still is constructed for your success, which is why I want a system constructed for me, and my peoples' success and achievements. Yes there are so-called success stories within this nation, but such success is dependent upon the participants being allowed to be examples. If the system of control was as it was openly, trust me, the Ben Carsons', the Oprah Winfreys', etc., would be non-existent; they are veneer for a system that is dying under its own weight. Look at what happened to William Cosby because he had the unmitigated gall to mention Muslims (NOI to be exact) as an example for young Black youth to aspire to. Such behavior is not tolerated in a system constructed to promote a dying dogma that has met its end.

So as you can see, I intentionally mentioned what I did with limits. Whether you realize it or not, most post was not that far from what you mention in your response. So does racism exist? Of course it does. Will it ever end? No it will not. The only viable and tested solution is for those who are ill-effected by it, to separate and experience life unencumbered.
