So, is that a yes or a no?

Do you want to see pics of the spread I will be sharing in tomorrow, or not?

Despite the great personal embarrassment it will cause me, I will photograph the experience if the patrons of this bar wish to see it.

Maybe I'm lucky. I moved far away from any family. I don't have to worry about pretending anything in front of them.

My deceased, older sister gave me a great piece of advice years ago. She said: "I'm 50 years old; I don't have to worry about what anybody else thinks. It's time for them to worry about what I think."

I don't have any close family either. My sister is older than I am and lives 6 hours south of me. Last time I had Thanksgiving with her was..oh...35 years ago? We don't get along. Too old to change, for either of us. I prefer holidays with my furkids..which are gone now. But its ok. I've always been kind of hermity.

it depends if it is being fed to an addict who consents to it, or one who consents to eating it in moderation.

the devil is in the details.

sorry if i am being a debbie downer, enjoy your holiday.

Apple Crumb pie by all means. But this other dish even a starving
Ostrich would have problems considering. And an Ostrich will basically eat
anything on the ground.Even little batteries.

There's nothing wrong with being a hermit. Society wants to make us think there is, but there's not. For the most part, the outside world sucks ass.

You're better off being true to yourself. Put your great ideas out there strategically. Look for the times and places that they can do the most good. Try to have some beneficial influence on a niece or nephew. Not by doing too much, but just with a little nudge here or there.

You say this as if it's a bad thing. IT'S NOT! This is your life. Who's to say whether it's a worthy life, or not? We all might do better in our imagined perfect worlds.

So, since I'm new to the forum and Smarty's Bar and Grill, I thought that maybe I had some new victims to play with. I'm kinda running out of Thanksgiving newbies to impose upon.

So anyway, while I'm sitting here on the Group W bench (no, I haven't done anything so vile as littering), I just wanted to wish all of the bar patrons a very happy Tha...AAACK! HELP!!! It's the turkeys! They're fighting back, and they're organized!

I'm not gonna make it! Save me! Aaaaaaaaaggchkxxx!.........

No, I'm not buying it. If you make anything positive out of your life, it is worthy.

Alright people of the Strange Brews.....finally got in from work. Despite there not being much news. Still each Black Friday paper (which is put out tonight) weighed 7 lbs. So we had a lot of people that were running behind. Including the Teamster truckers.

So I am thankful that work is finally over for today.

A Poem from Tarzana Joe......a good friend of mine.

    Thanksgiving 2017

Hand in hand, at table sitting
It’s proper, right and meet and fitting
That on Thanksgiving we all share
    Gratitude in quiet prayer

But I say we should give a roar
For all the things we’re thankful for
And raise our voices and the mood
    In fine, full-throated gratitude

For this great land that we all live in
And all the blessings we’ve been given
    For seeing one more equinox
For lower rates and rising stocks

    For mandatory manners training
For swamps that may be slowly draining
Thanks for the ups AND for the downs
And all those draft picks for the Browns

For volunteers in green and blue
Who live defending me and you
    Army Brat and Navy Bean
    Soldier, Airman or Marine
The cream that rises to the top
    Sheriff, Deputy and Cop
Who run to where the call requires
And all those guys who put out fires

And if I may to their proud ranks
I’ll add my own and private thanks
For friends I know or soon will meet
Who follow what I post or tweet

For precious moments in my life
The day I met my fetching wife
The miracle that is our son
And that which we’ve together done

With all these things so fine and sweet
    My list, alas is incomplete
And so, I challenge all and able
To read this poem around your table
And thinking of the gifts you’ve known
To add a stanza of your own.....snip~

    Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

Wife and I are on the road, but will be home this afternoon. We were visiting relatives in North Carolina and are driving a car back to Texas. We took a slightly longer route through Tennessee because the wife wanted to see Graceland. I wanted to see the Memphis Belle, but it's up at Wright-Patterson AFB for restoration until late next year, so that bucket list item will have to wait.

Graceland was interesting, but what I really liked was Elvis's 1911:

The bird is in the oven. I butchered my rooster the other night. This morning, I seasoned him, stuffed him, and put him on to bake in a roasting pan full of veggies. This is my first attempt at cooking a bird and I'm taking him to my parents for Thanksgiving Dinner. He LOOKS good in the pan.

I had no problems with Sasquatch, but he attacked my wife and mama says he had to go. I butchered him and am cooking him by youtube video directions. Wish me luck.

At heart, he's just a good ol' country boy.

    http://www.tmz.com/2017/10/17/elvis-presleys-tcb-revolver-gun-for-sale-auction-95k/
One of Elvis Presley's beloved pieces -- a Smith & Wesson -- can be yours, but it's gonna take a king's ransom to get it! See what we did there?

Elvis' .38 caliber Smith & Wesson Chief Special revolver is now for sale through Moments in Time -- and it's going for a whopping $95,000 ... first come, first served.

The gun was originally purchased by The King himself at a Memphis gun shop in 1971 ... where the paperwork shows he also bought 5 other revolvers the same day. Elvis was a low-key gun nut, who often unloaded on his TVs.

Elvis had this particular firearm engraved with his T.C.B. lighting bolt logo -- which stood for Taking Care of Business in a flash.

We're told he eventually gifted the gun to his bodyguard, but it's unclear if Elvis ever used it. Either way, folks ... it's now or never! Yup, we did it again.

    Otherwise not.

I don't like the slaughtering of farm animals.

    I could not do it.

I can shoot them from a distance, and then butcher them myself, but not the slaughtering part.
