Voltamp: ever hear of the Native American, African slaves, Asians who helped to build this country? Native Americans are Asian, not white and were here first. African slaves were black and came pretty much at the same time as Europeans; there were black slaves in the original colonies. And the Chinese helped build the railroad across the country. It is not a white on white country, never was.

 

it was a ridiculous question. you asked me if i thought we had a clean history with minorities, in response to me stating that we have a bad history with minorities. you either didn't read the sentence you bolded, or didn't understand it.

 

it's white by any practical measure. a country doesn't have to be totally, 100% comprised of one ethnic group in order to be a country of that ethnic group. china is not 100% han chinese but it is a han chinese country.

Yes you did. And honestly, from where I stand the whole purpose of this thread is basically you saying "well we might have been bad in the past but other countries don't handle minorities well either."

 

That didn’t entirely help. What exactly is America being expected to do that other countries aren’t (or wouldn’t be in the same circumstances)?

Loads of countries receive immigrants and refugees in all sorts of different situations and they’re expected to be treated legally, fairly and humanely in them all (and that often isn’t the case). It’s worth noting that just because it doesn’t appear on US news doesn’t mean it isn’t happening elsewhere in the world.

 

I think people who are consumed with caring about what color people are and what color this country is are very sad. In any case, the percent of Americans who are 'white' is only 62%. All the rest are one race or another or mixed race. In time, there will be a majority of non-whites in America. Mainly due to mixed race people. Race is not a real issue anyway: it is an artificial concept created by man. We are all one race: the human race. Jesus loves everyone equally. We are all God's children.

 

the vast, vast majority of those countries taking in immigrants are white western countries. other countries don't want them.

why? because taking in foreigners and treating them as equals goes against human nature. hence my asking for examples.
