"Sleep with me or I'll fire you." = Harassment

"If you sleep with me, I'll promote you" without the threat of firing seems shady, but is it harassment ?

I, as a man, if offered a big promotion to have sex with, say, a fairly attractive female boss, would at least consider it. I wouldn't consider it harassment - especially if my job was not in jeopardy.

I notice in Hollywood, some of these cases involved quid-pro-quo.

    What say you ?

Firing, hiring, promoting, demoting people for any reason other than job performance is wrong.

basing such actions on sexual relationships? should be criminal.

    No.

    It's workplace discrimination.

You're discriminating against other people who don't sleep with you and may be better qualified for the job.

The problem is no one means the words, if you sleep with me I will promote you, without the implied subtext that if you don't sleep with me, I WON'T promote you. Even if you deserve it. So yeah, it's harassment. Why, were you planning on trying that next week? Don't. Unless you want to get fired.

You, as a man, are actually making a statement like a pig. And again, someone who is willing to use their position of power to get what they want from you won't just use it once. Once you give in once, they will use it again and again because that's how it works. You'll be fine with it the first time, but soon she will ask for something you are unwilling to give. And then what?

It's not about the sex, it's about the abuse of power.

There's nothing wrong with promoting people based on sexual favors and if you disagree with me you're an SJW.

You've really gone off the deep end recently...

SJWs want to abuse white men based on fake oppression claims (e.g the feminists who want sleeping with a drunk woman to be considered rape). I don't want anybody to be abused.

I never said I support that behavior. But it sounds like you want to use the violence of government to prevent it, instead of promoting free market capitalism and good old fashioned competition with merit based competitors.

Yes, MERIT based. The merit of how well they work, not of how well they suck you.

You're the only one who is against merit based competition here...

you're saying power and authority in the workplace should not be used to get a BJ?

No. I only deal with verifiable facts. "using power and authority to get a BJ" is not a verifiable fact.
"hiring someone who sleeps with you instead of a better qualified applicant" is.

Just to be clear, do you want to force that standard on all u.s. employers by the Iron Fist of the government or do you want to allow competition to play its course and let their merit-based competitors hire the best of the best and put these unethical employers out of business, naturally?

Your answer to that question determines whether or not you are a social justice Warrior, not your personal opinion on the behavior itself.

so you think sexual harrassment in the workplace should be legal?

it should be legal to hire, fire, promote, demote employees based on sexual favors?

    Lol?

How would they be put out of business naturally?

Let's say all companies agree that to get promoted you should give a BJ to the boss. How will "muh libertarian capitalism" take care of that?

And why would they not all agree on that? It's good for the boss, and the boss makes the rules, doesn't he?

Besides, I thought you hated libertarians...now you're against state power, how things change.

Your job now may not be in jeopardy, but the implication is that’s the best job you’ll ever have. I would never expect to move up the ladder with that kind of a boss.

All someone has to do is come along and hire the best of the best and he will out compete his competitors.

sure we can fantasize about anything but what's the point of that? Lol

An employer wants talent. Packing your company full of newly grad 22 year old girls and single moms just so you can sexually abuse them probably won't give you the competitive edge over someone who makes smarter hiring decisions.

I actually like Libertarians quite a lot. I was never a purest like some of them but I did at one point identify as Libertarian and I supported Ron Paul back in the day.

In an ideal society I would vote libertarian but we don't live in an ideal society. Libertarianism won't work with the current realities the U.S. is faced with.

Our opposition is a fiercely ideological far left wing movement. The only way, in my view, we can properly defeat this ideology is with an equally potent force in the opposite direction. Once the proper course correction is complete then we can entertain ideologies like libertarianism.

In a big company sure, but what if I started my own company just to sexually abuse 22 year old college grads? In your ideal world I'd be able to do that as much as I want.

To logic bomb your ridiculous anti civil rights ideology.

If a man solicits sex in return for promotion, and the woman turns him down, she is vulnerable to being fired simply because she is now a threat to him. I would feel threatened. And I think the best way to protect myself in that situation would be to go to HR right away.
