What exactly is the left proposing? Are you claiming that denying the mentally ill access to guns is violating their rights. Isn't that what Trump is mow waffling towards rather than actually dealing with the real issue.

    Without their day in court?

    Sure

Lois Learner could come out of retirement and put anyone she pleases on the list

And when she did the FBI or BATF would go to their home and take all the guns

Regulation would have had no effect on the Sandy Hook case Obama was responding to and no effect on this Florida shooting. Does anyone have ANY example of someone on social security disability for a mental illness or deemed to be unfit to handle their financial matters, who killed anyone with a legally purchased gun?

Well, if you are denying some girl her constitutional right to buy a gun because she suffers from... oh let use anorexia as an example, YEAH!

As long as it fits their agenda, the law or the Constitution don't matter, the ends justify the means.

For the lefties, this law only revokes Obama's abuse of power ruling. All the previous mental health issues that prevented someone from buying a gun still stands. Obama's EO removed due process with no ability to challenge the lost of their 2nd Amendment rights. It's the same reason the right rejected the no fly list to be used to prevent gun ownership.

I heard something like .002 % of ARs are used in crime, yet they are the guns pointed out to be banned. Someone then said these people don't really care about the victims, they just use them to push an agenda. If they cared, they would care about the victims of illegal aliens. They would care about the Angel moms. But no, they are given a pass.

So fine. We both agree that the Republican attempt to make this a mental health issue instead of a gun issue is just a smoke sceen to hide doing nothing.

And what do you think could have been legally done? Confiscate his guns? Forcibly commit him to an institution? Put him inder 24 hour surveillance.

Amazing that now the Republicans have decided this is a mental health issue and the FBI is to blame for doing nothing and yet not one Republican government official has come up with even single idea as to what should have bedn done to prevent the tragedy.

Nothing wrong with executive orders dealing with matters entrusted to the executive. Its when those orders deal with matters that should be left to the legislative branch that causes problems

Yet the NRA struggles to defend the second amendment while being outspent 20 to 1.

There are no unlimited constitutional rights and never have been. The western cow towns, to cite one example banned guns in town. The view that people had an unlimited right to carry any weapon anywhere would likely have stunned the founders and certainly was not followed in the 19th century.

We have spent a half century talking about rights to the exclusion of all other values. We need to start thinking about responsibility to others, alien as that is to American society.

It is true. Have someone look it up for you. I assume you want everyone to turn in their firearms. Does that include law enforcement?

Is it that you find your hobby to be more important than human life, or does firing big guns make your feel better about...other things? No one even suggests banning guns, but keeping crazy people from buying guns meant to kill as many people as possible seems a good idea.

Who knew it was not just a mental health issue, but an issue of the mental health of the current president?

Interesting how you sexualize firearms. I suppose you can call not being raped or murdered a hobby. I would love a discussion about how to prevent crazy people from buying guns.

I don't have to 'look it up'. I'm a lefty, an ex-cop and I carry. And I've accomplished all of that without belonging to the NRA. Figure that one out you NRA puppet.

You did not accomplish your right to carry; that was done long before you were born. The NRA was not able to preserve the right to carry here in Los Angeles. Only police, politicians, and criminals carry here. Is there a reason you are being so hostile?

Right to carry laws are determined by the State. There's no where in this country that you're not allowed to own a gun. You don't need the NRA to do that. Those of you that think 'they want to take my guns away from me' are just paranoid.

Other counties issue CCW, LA does not. Are you aware of the new gun laws here in CA? They are requiring registration of what they call "assault weapons" and they can never be sold or transferred. I guess you can say that they are not trying to take my guns away, but if I cannot transfer them, my kids can't inherit them.

As far as preventing crazy people from owning guns, I am all for it as long as there is something in place to prevent government abuse.
