The trend is toward expanded gun rights. National CCW will probably happen soon.

You have no rational basis for your statement - you can only support it with fallacious appeals to emotion, ignorance and/or dishonesty.

Thats not necessarily a good thing. As it is, the pro-gun have states rights as a powerful foundation. National CCW could erode that precedent.

Tell that to the tens of thousands of people who have used guns effectively to end violent criminal assaults on their home.

Good point. The 2nd amendment should cover CC.

You know, given your example on the forum and all, I am almost convinced enough to agree with you in your case...... You should not be allowed guns.

    Except that this;

"States Rights" is a fallacy and a misnomer..
    States do not have "Rights"

People have Rights, hence why the Second Amendment refers to "The People's Rights" and not the Militia, as any body under Govenment Authority acts under "Colour of Authority" vested under "The powers and Authority" of the duly constituted Government.

    Only "The People" have Rights,
The State, Government, has Power and Authority.

Now ur just being a dick: 'States don't have rights'... It should be obvious by the context of the conversation that Im not trying to assign rights to the state, rather Im talking about the dynamic of local sovereignty over centralized authority. In our system, we preserve this primarily at the State level, though not unsubstantially at the county level as well.

The dems are not trying to repeal the 2dA. You have no evidence for that.

Such a standard does not apply when individual states are going out of their way to infringe, abridge, and outright ignore constitutional rights, on the basis that they do not like them.

the district of columbia did not outright prohibit the ownership of handguns either. They simply enacted regulations that made the acquisition impossible through licensing and registration requirements, while providing no funding for either.

So they arent advocating for UK or Australian style gun control? Because they sure talk about it a lot, and that would require a repeal or at least a substantial revision of the 2A.

modernpaladin, it is the gun bunny right that talks about all that crap. Most Americans from right to left want sensible restriction of certain fire arms, not overall gun bans.

as many Dems are quick to point out in their proposal of UK and Australian style gc, neither has an 'overall gun ban.' They merely instituted gun ownership and use as a privaledge selectively permitted by the authorities. Which is really what a lot of you GCers are advocating with the argument that we common citizens need to be vetted and/or demonstrate a 'need' before being granted access to certain types of weapons.

When you have a right to something, the burden of evidense of necessity or mal-intent is on he who would take it away from you.

None of the restrictions you want are "sensible" because none of them will prevent shootings like this.
Indeed, all you want is to restrict the rights of the law abiding.

No, "as many" dems do know such thing. You can't quantify the numbers. But if you want to grow those anti-gun nut numbers, refuse to be involved in sensible measures.

What most gun controllers call "sensible measures" aren't sensible at all, and what they will get is a civil war if they keep pushing their crap.

Pushing for gun control instead of supporting proper security measures is what killed the kids in Florida.

It won't happen. The 2nd Amendment can only be repealed if you can get 38 states to approve. 13 states can block it.
