What Trump fails to realize is the importance and respect other powers have for the office of the American Presidency. Kim has more respect for the office than Trump has. By impulsively agreeing to talk to Kim without consulting a soul besides the South Korean envoy, Trump has cheapened the office. You are right. We should talk to NK, but not the President. Not until our goals for the Korean Peninsula have been achieved, and our President meets with the NK dictator in triumph. Not before.

"I would be shocked if anything really changed." You are wrong. As things stand now, meeting in May without conditions, by meeting with the leader of the free world Kim achieves a great diplomatic victory and his status is sharply elevated. For this, he gives up nothing. He has not even answered Trump's invitation.

All the media attention for the talks is coming from Trump and the White House. Nothing from North Korea. It is almost as if Trump is groveling to speak to Kim.

    That makes me sick.

What other option does the US have? North Korea has US at it's mercy. Not to destroy the US, but an alignment with China may surely result in SK just kicking out the US Military. If Trump can make a deal with Kim via cutting of sanctions for slow disarmament and slow reunifcation, Kim's goals are achieved. North Korea joins South Korea, with a lot of North Korean seats in government and Kim dies a hero on his bed of Diabetes.

I think your deep dislike for the man and bias is affecting your thinking. I tend to give him more leeway in regards to NK, for what has been used to date has failed. Perhaps the odd manner in which trump acts might yield something better? I say give him a try. That rocket man remark may have served the US at the end of the day. I will have to wait and see.

I see trump as a most unusual president. You have much more negative views obviously. lol
