Your cat reminds me of a cat I had. I took this picture when he was in one of his hiding places. He loved to have his secret hiding spots.

    Here kitty kitty...…

my two have their hiding places also, though rather typical - on top of the freezer in the basement during the summer (cool own there) or wrapped behind the pellet stove during the winter, and when it's raining, my side of the bed for a good loooong, nap..... Einstein.jpg Hoover.jpg

I don't have a cat now and I miss having one. I do have two dogs which I adore, but I miss having a cat.

As a kid, I had a combination of dogs and cats. No special one that I got attached to, but when I went out on my own, I made a point of adopting a cat before I even had a couch, lol.

I've had short time spans of not having a cat around, usually for a month or two while I mourned the loss of a fuzzy. But they seem to find me when I need them most. :)

Most people don't know that a cat bite is a love bite.

If a cat is mad it will swat you with its razor sharp claws.

And I have the scars to prove both love bites, and no-so-loved bites.

    But... they purr.

A major feature of cats, they can be the very essence of cosiness and comfort when it 's cold or rainy outside. Dogs can too especially if it's an opportunity to be with master, but they always seem to match the mood of the weather, a little sad that they can't run and play.

The Santa Fe shooter had been bugging or harassing a girl and her little sister. So she decided to "stand up to him" and show her sister how to handle bullies. So she did.

She was apparently a target and he killed her. I wonder what lesson the little sister takes away from this.

I have often thought about the notion of standing up to bullies, since I was in HS. In my school, standing up to a bully meant taking on the Crips or the Bloods or MS13. And beyond them we had some seriously crazy dudes around. Stand up to them and you may well end up dead. We all knew that. I stood up to a bully once. Soon thereafter I was attacked by his older brother and his friends. I stood up to another bully and he pulled a knife on me. My buddy stood up to a bully and he was almost killed by his gang. He only got away because they grabbed him by the jacket and he slid out of it and managed to run. We had another bully who ended up killing a guy at Disneyland because he cut in front of him in line.

When people tell kids to stand up to bullies, I wonder how often they consider that bullies can be very dangerous.

When it's raining or cold outside, the little fuzzy critters have methods of convincing you that you too, should be all curled up on the bed, napping.

Cats will nap outside when it's nice, nap inside (as previously listed) when it's not. They do not know of this thing you call 'run and play'.....

Bullies, in the time when I attended school, could usually be put down with a dose of their own medicine,: as publicly and as humiliating as you could make it. In extreme cases, physical altercations were necessary, with the knowledge that suspension of both parties would be likely.

I guess I'm glad that 'gangs', as they are today, didn't exist (that I knew of) or likely I'd be a statistic in some useless violence report, as I had to deal with a bully or two.

Anyone who believes that the gratuitous violence in videos and movies has not had an effect on how the youth deals with events in their lives, is a wee bit delusional.

It is a good thing you are vacationing now. There is a system down in the Carribean it is going to bring a lot of rain around the end of the week. It may not reach Texas it might just hang around and drench Fl.

A continual dose of violence in games or movies would tend to make a vulnerable young person callous.

I agree that people, esp kids are being desensitized by violence on TV, the movies, and esp video games. In fact, they use video games to desensitize cops so they will shoot to kill when needed. So we know it works!

I don't know how old you are but gangs are nothing new. I'm in my 50s so HS was some time ago. I grew up on the Compton border. Funny because now EVERYONE knows about Compton! We were lower-middle class but lived very near ghettos. Ghettos and big cities have always had dangerous types. I guess small towns always had a statistically smaller chance of having true killer types around. But they have always existed. The trouble is, you generally can't be sure who is just a bully, and who is a truly dangerous nut.

I'm in my 50's also, raised in an east coast middle class neighborhood. The high school was regional, so we had a well to do township, two middle class, and one lower middle class. The closest we came to 'gangs' were the rockers, the heads, the jocks and the mechanics. We all actually got along pretty well.
