Here are the video's of tankers carrying Syria's stolen oil to Turkey. It has to be at least 100 miles from Raqqa to the Turkish border, and the lines of trucks were continuous - so you figure out how many there were. It does look like thousands to me.

Oil facilities in Raqqa being bombed.

Trucks lined up to go through the Turkish border

By the way the trucks belonged to Bilal Erdogan, and he made billions. The oil was exchanged for weapons and he is wanted in Italy and probably by Interpol.

I don't think NATO cares much about Syria.

Washington does. They want to break Syria up into parts to weaken it. Also east of the Euphrates is where the gas and oil wealth is, and Washington wants to make it an American and Israeli friendly Kurdish nation. Problem is, the people living there are not Kurds, they are Arabs. By doing this, they will not only cut Assad from the oil and gas so he can't rebuild, but will also create a buffer state that will separate Syria from Iraq and Iran.

This goes against Russia's security needs, since it needs the Shias as buffers to keep the jihadists from the Gulf states entering Russia's southern flanks. According to some, many of the ISIS leaders were bought to Afghanistan and are now threatening some of those states.

Always the black white, and the white black. Hey Margot, if the people in Chechnya are not Chechnyans, then who are they? Nigerians, or maybe Eskimos?

I'll let you in on a secret, there is no better protection than mountains. So even if Stalin did want to get rid of them since the Muslims did side with the Nazis, he wouldn't have been able to.

Uhhh, the Saudi Prince is a Wahabbi Sunni, and the Republics within the Russian Federation are moderate Sunnis. I have news for you, the moderate Sunnis and the Shias get along fine. Its the takfiri jihadists who are terrorists, and they are the ones the US and Israel has sided with to overthrow the secular Assad government.

I have news for you, neither the Christians, Shias, and moderate Sunnis want sharia law in Syria, this is why they are fighting. And guess what, the FSA are now rejoining the Assad government, and helping the Syrian army fight the American supported ISIS and Al Nusra. I guess they too want the Americans to get the hell out of Syria.

As for Turkey, they are hated by all their former subjects, and it doesn't matter if they are Sunnis or not.

    Nobody loves us, so what?

Syria has NO roads wide enough to accommodate those trucks side by side.

    You have been spoofed.

Which Muslims sided with the Nazis? Every Arab State had signed on with the Allies by 1939. Stalin and Hitler were allies at one point... in 1939.

See the Lost American - killing Chechnya Frontline PBS. They rebelled in 1929 and again in 1940.. Stalin had a half million of them murdered.

What was the economy of Syria like before the civil war? - Quora

Economically speaking Syria was better off than most of its neighbors. Wealth was concentrated among the political elite due to deep corruption and the monopolization of virtually all major industries by Rami Makhlouf, Assad's first cousin.

Syria's economy peaked in 1970 and began going downhill then because the Bathists nationalized EVERYTHING.. All oil revenues went direct to Assad. The elites had the money and corruption was rampant. Children were eating out of garbage cans.

    Read about it.......

Syria is between the two Muslim solitudes and is a battleground for that reason. So, too, Iraq.

I don't think so, Langley.. Syria has always had sectarian strife and lots of coups since 1945.. Their economy peaked in 1970 and has been in steady decline since while Assad nationalized everything and looted.. He got ALL the oil revenues. The Assads are worth billions.

    Baathism hasn't worked.

So what? Sunnis, moderate or otherwise, have not lined up with Russia.
Oh, please. Religious types are always potential targets for radicalization and tribalization.
It may be one of the reasons some of the people are fighting.
At best, Assad is the lesser of evils. Most Syrians are Sunni, Assad is Shia. The U.S. was not supporting ISIL.
As I said, however, the Russians are trying the flip the Turks.

No .. sorry.. Assad is not the lessor of two evils. He's a thug just like his father, brother and uncles.. and he is incapable of good governance.

ISIS should be destroyed and Assad and his awful family should go into exile.

I just don't see Syria as a high priority for the U.S., unless it attacks Israel.

Assad is NOT Shia.. They are Alawite and the Alawites are above the law. They earn their living in drug trafficking and kidnapping for ransom.

Stalin had a lot of people murdered, as did Lenin before him - and most were Christians. Anyway, here are some Nazi Muslims?

As for the video, I'm crazy about the music -
my eastern heritage you know? I find it strange how music as sensual as that could have spiritual lyrics - not to mention the war like images.

The Alawites are not Shias, although they identify with them. They are assumed to have been Christians at one time, not only because of their beliefs, but also because of their tolerance towards other faiths. This is why under Assad, Syria has been so inclusive and secular.

In the past they were discriminated against, and the reason the Assads were able to gain power, was because they served in the military - something that was considered below the Sunnis. When the Sunnis realized that without Assad they will all up under sharia law, they joined his army.

The Syrian war can be explained very simply once one familiarizes oneself with Israel's Oded Yinon Plan.

Israel fears Iran, and the Iranians are helping Assad. Of course Iran doesn't help the situation with its threats, but Russia tries to calm Netanyahu by keeping the Iranians far from the Israeli border. As for the US, I think they just hate the idea that Assad is winning and they are not getting their way.

Iran would be ashes if it attacked Israel.

But let's not go there. That won't end well for anyone.

What point are you making? There's no doubt the civil war has brought misery to millions of Syrians.

If I was a Syrian and had to choose between ISIL and Assad, I would choose Assad. Both should go.
