The chairman of the powerful House Oversight and Government Reform Committee said Sunday he doesn't support a push by conservative lawmakers to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

“No. For what? Impeach him for what. No,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

“I'm not convinced there is a movement,” Gowdy said. “I read about it in POLITICO and sometimes their sources are better than mine. But I'm not part of that.”

That's a mic drop moment..... "No, For what?"

After the Strzok hearings, it's clear Gowdy (or as Colbert brilliantly dubbed him - Supercuts Vampire!!) REALLY doesn't like to hear the I word....

The R's aren't really going to proceed with this farce, are they? It's right up there with the nutty bill to abolish ICE.... the desperation is PALPABLE....

When is Congress going to start doing some real work??

Doesn't have to; a simple majority gets it done. He's ONE VOTE.

After the mid terms in November, no matter who hold the majority in congress, maybe they will move on and quit attacking our counterespionage and national security people. Then, hopefully they will address healthcare and infrastructure. I think Trump could get more accomplished if he is forced to deal with the Democrats and craft some bi partisan legislation. It worked for both Reagan and Clinton after their parties lost the mid terms.

There is no basis for impeachment of Rosenstein. I know that the Trump lovers do not care if there us no basis but that is just wrong and stupid.

Maybe if our "counter espionage and national security" LEADERS were diligently doing THAT, instead of IGNORING the Russian meddling to SPY ON THEOR POLITCAL OPPONENTS, there would have been no meddling.

I do not think that enough GOP congressmen will go along with those nutbags like Jordan, Nunez and Gohmert to impeach a Republican professional prosecutor like Rod Rosenstein. We will see, but my money would bet that he will not be impeached by congress.

Congress should not have carte' blanch oversite to interfere with investigation just because the investigation is on the same party as the majority.

If counterespionage work leads directly to close associates of political candidates, what do you expect them to do? The only mistake Strzok made was not leaking the details of the investigation involving Trump's associates like Comey did twice about Clinton...

I don't think he will be either. Exposing the glaring corruption of the Obama Swamp =/= " nutbags".

Trump might very well FIRE HIS A**, however...

That NEVER HAPPENED. Planted the "Russian Dirt" lie in London, didn't "lead" to anyone outside of the Obama Adm., and we see who "colluded" with the Russians, don't we?

Comey was FORCED to reopen the "matter" into the criminal Hillary, as the NEW YORK MEDIA was getting ready to blow the whistle on the Wiener laptop crap. They TRIED to SIT ON them until after the election, and GOT CAUGHT.

I think there are enough RINOs in the House fo save rosenstien from being removed

What we need is a 2nd special council to investigate the entire Deep State

That could be a bad move. There is a good chance that Mueller does not have enough to even recommend articles of impeachment much less enough to get 67 US Senators to remove him. If Mueller does have enough to get him removed, he should go anyway but I really think that is a long shot. However, firing Rosenstein especially after even Gowdy said "what for" could end up being his undoing, like with Nixon. Pretty tricky stuff. If I were him, I would keep working on trying to get things done no matter who wins in November and set himself up to win in 2020. Health Care, Infrastructure, North Korea, Restructuring Iran Deal etc. If the Democrats run another turd which is quite possible he can win easily. Even if they run a decent candidate, it will be hard to beat him if the economy is still going well.

Congress must have absolute oversight; no unelected thing should have any ability to hide what they are doing with our government, especially after the Obamanation called for nation building here to maintain a kind of leadership and the IRS was used politically. It is our government, not Rosenthing's government.

I wonder why the New York media was going to blow the whistle about Weiner's lap top? You think Giuliani and Clinton hating FBI guys might have been involved? Of course, the GOP controlled congress never subpoenaed their emails and texts, did they? And Strzok DID sit on the information that suggested that some of Trump's cohorts were involved with Russian crooks. Conversely the FBI Clinton haters in New York that Rush, Hannity and Giuliani were bragging about were not about to sit on the bs Weiner laptop crap. You can't have it both ways Grok. Comey's announcement about Weiner's laptop probably won the election for Trump. I believe the investigation will conclude that Trump was either purposely or unwittingly involved with people who were being played by Russian mobsters and spies who wanted to overturn the Magnitski Act and get other sanctions reversed. If Trump was knowingly involved and had agreed to remove those sanctions, he should be thrown out. If he didn't he should quit whining about witch hunts and apologize to the guys who were doing their jobs.
