The way I see it, the Palestinians had numerous chance after chance at Statehood, and the biggest thing keeping them from accepting, is the concept of the Right to Return. I don't think Israel will ever relent and in fact even the '67 borders is now an impossibility. Some have suggested that the Palestinians make Jordan their new State, and I think it's going to have to be that.

Ironically, I'm not sure the Israeli government would be too pleased if the Palestinians gained autonomy through Jordan. That would be another possible antagonist in the region. To me, I think a two-state solution should be Israel's primary goal, even if they have to relent on the Right to Return.

I'm not sure what the percentage is today, but historically about 60% of Jordanians were palestinians, though their rulers (King Hussein) are Hashemites.

The West Bank is an internationally recognized geographic region (even by Israel). Even the Israelis have signed agreements acknowledging it as Palestinian territory.
