Why do so many people blindly believe the US claims that Russia hacked the election?

it doesn't appear to be a fact it seems to be wishful thinking by the utterly in raged people who did not vote for him.

Stating that non-facts are facts does not work on me.

There's no need to defend Trump if you had facts he could be impeached even convicted until that happens I don't believe you have any facts.

The two parties are not comparable at this point.

One party is openly hostile to anyone that isn't White and wealthy. One party 'coddles' a POTUS who embraces a clear enemy of America. The list of horrible things the GOP allows, is literally long and almost boring (if dire). Democrats are in no way 'perfect'... but nothing like today's extremist Republican Party.

VOTE BLUE!!! (Local, State and Federal.)

Did Hillary coddle this enemy when she went to Russia with her famous reset button?

I don't think "Hillary" is any real concern, considering all that is going on right now. But you can stay stuck on that if you wish.

As I suspected you have a double standard on this and your beloved Democrats ran her for president so don't forget that.

You are looking at something other than what is pertinent.

I'm not wasting time/energy on your BS. Goodbye.

You can't possibly be that dumb, therefore you must have an agenda to push such bullshit. Not that facts have anything to do with an entrenched ideologically driven agenda.

But when such bullshit is continually propagated, it becomes entrenched "alternative fact" in some people's minds. Especially in those who leave the thinking to other members of their tribe.

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...red-stand-down-russian-meddling-2016-election

Michael Daniel confirmed Wednesday that former national security adviser Susan Rice ordered him and his staff to "stand down" in 2016 in regard to Russian attempts to meddle in the 2016 election.

Daniel, special assistant to former President Barack Obama and White House cybersecurity coordinator, told members of the Senate Intelligence Committee that quotes attributed to him in the book, Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump, were an "accurate rendering of the conversation" he had with Rice and his staff.

Daniel's staff reportedly responded to the order in "disbelief."

Over the past year, the Obama administration has been criticized for allegedly being aware of Russian attempts to influence the election yet primarily remaining silent on the subject.

The Washington Post reported that Obama himself — along with three top aides — was given direct evidence from the CIA of Russian President Vladimir Putin's cyber campaign to influence the election.

The Obama administration reportedly knew of Russia's actions for months ahead of the 2016 election, but failed to take retaliatory action until December.

"It is the hardest thing about my entire time in government to defend,” a former senior Obama administration official involved in White House deliberations on Russia said of the administration's inaction. “I feel like we sort of choked."

I am aware of this. Of course Obama had no idea how pervasive the problem was at the time. He also couldn't get McConnell or Ryan to agree to a bipartisan statement. In fact had he made a unilateral statement he would have been accused of trying to interfere in the election.

So he did what he could. He responded with additional sanctions, property confiscation and expulsions, while direct all agencies and investigators to document all evidence to insure its preservation. He was a lame duck president and did what he could. Wasn't enough even without hindsight, but you can't get every call right.

This does not excuse trump's dereliction of duty as commander in chief to direct America's resources to defend the nation against it. He has spent the past two years claiming the russian investigation is a hoax and "no collusion" and serially lied about his and his campaign's interactions with russian operatives.

Its nice that the grown ups in the absence of leadership and direction are at least doing their jobs. Guess trump has too many other things on his mind, like his golf handicap, to bother with leading this one.

The White House today pulled out all the stops to contradict what the President has said recently about Russian interference in our elections. To illustrate the problem for the White House, a reporter asked, "So should Americans believe that he is listening to your advice or that he's going his own way when he's having meetings like he did with the president of Russia?"

Trump's NSA, John Bolton replied, "I think the president has made it abundantly clear to everybody who has responsibility in this area that he cares deeply about it and that he expects them to do their jobs to their fullest ability and that he supports them fully."

Well, no, he has not made that clear. Standing alongside Putin, Trump said, “They [Coats, DNI] said, ‘I think it is Russia.’ I have President Putin. He just said it is not Russia. I will say this: I do not see any reason why it would be. I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial.”

The next day, making an attempt at damage control, Trump said, "I accept our intelligence community's conclusion that Russia's meddling in the 2016 election took place. Could be other people also. A lot of people out there. But there was no collusion."

"This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further," Trump tweeted yesterday.

When asked about Helsinki, Dan Coats, Trump's chosen DNI chief, did his best to explain he was simply ignoring the President. “I'm not in a position to either understand fully or talk about what happened in Helsinki,” Coats said matter-of-factly. That is diplomatic speak for, "I don't give a rat's ass what Trump said at Helsinki."

Truth be known, we all want to forget what Trump said at Helsinki.

With each passing day it is becoming more and more clear that we should simply ignore what Trump tweets or says. He doesn't even speak for the White House or his closest advisors who are simply ignoring what he says and are talking their fight to the Russians, their meaningless, bogus loyalty rhetoric notwithstanding. They are not about to tell a national television audience that they are ignoring the President.

    Actions speak louder than words.

launched a military cyber attack on America, its elections and its social/political discourse. Annexation of georgia, crimea, ukraine invasion, invading syria and supporting assad, support for NK, to name just a few minor things that can be construed as a clear and present danger to american national security.

It might be a romeo and juliet moment for Don and Vlad, but the families are enemies - only a niave idiot would think otherwise

Trump's words are to promote Trump and are calculated to entertain his worshipful cult.

Rather that defend the US against Putin's perverting US elections, he conjures up someone "sitting on their bed who weighs 400 pounds!"

Serious public servants cannot take the crap his cult giddily wallows in seriously.

Then why did the united states see fit to sell a significant amount of uranium material to the nation of Russia? What exactly changed in the brief period of time between the sale taking place, and the upcoming election for president of the united states, that qualified the nation of Russia as a clear enemy of the untied states?

That was great. First he denies it and then when you proved it to him, he tried to mitigate how much Obama knew.

It was a normal business transaction by an international mining conglomerate and an American producer. The purchase went thru normal channels and was approved. It should be pointed out, that the Federal government controls all uranium exports and closely monitors production. The russians can't mine the uranium and take it home to make nuclear bombs.

Only an idiot would think that appropriate national security safeguards for uranium mining and processing are not in place and stringently adhered to.

Actually nothing "changed". The efforts to normalize relations with Putin has been attempted by every president since the fall of the wall. Putin's russia has other ideas. Been like that for the entire 18 years of his tenure. Make the effort, get some superficial results and then voila, an invasion of georgia or syria or ukraine, the civil war in chechnya, and coordinated military cyber attacks on America.

Clear and present danger. Meanwhile Dear Leader has firmly stated "we will not have it", in his powerful homage to Chamberlain.
