Don't be jealous, we have been there done that already we just need to mount a few 50cal on them so we can take out satellites when the time comes :) Butt I here the Australian AUSROC or is it Assroc's are coming along swimmingly ;)

The Moon is the first step to taking Mars and keeping the Martians from invading.

And when China also establishes a Moonbase because we’ve abrogated the Outer Space Treaty and now it’s a free for all?

Do you have any idea how big space is?

Well since it's expanding that question sort of puts you in a silly light doesn't it ;)

Satellites and spacecraft are rarely close enough together that they can be hit with a .50cal.

The average distance between satellites is measured in dozens of miles. Geosynchronous satellites orbit is 26,000 miles up.

    Space is ****ing big.

Well that's silly! A maneuverable armed vehicle could easily destroy satellites if it were parked in a stationary position within the carousel of targets. Keep in mind that a projectile will stay at max velocity indefinitely so even the most limited targeting systems would be more then adequate to hit and destroy a thin hulled satellite :)

You get that we are talking about distances between satellites of hundreds, if not thousands, of miles at geosynchronous orbit, right?

Firing a .50cal would also generate heat, making its use instantly detectable, and in the hours of flight time the bullet would have between the shot and it’s target, a change of vector of .000000001% would cause the bullet to miss.

Space force is a good idea. It means more jobs for Florida and many others. Since we have the tech why not?

It means the same amount of jobs for the actual operations side, because that won’t change. But it will mean an entirely new bureaucracy will need to be built for administration, medical, finance, personnel, etc needs of this entirely unnecessary branch.

One day we will quit running circles around the planet like NASCAR and go out where we have not been before. That is the future to explore new things, new places. Unless you are a modern day flat earther.

LMAO :) Who cares about detection? A 50 Cal has a velocity of 2700fps which is roughly one mile per two seconds! This velocity would stay constant if a weaponized device were to be parked outside the clarke belt.

What you fail to understand is a mobile vehicle could target every satellite in a twenty four hour period being stationary :) Or simply travel towards the orbiting satellites as they orbit the earth!

And the necessity of a separate military branch solely for space will exist then. It doesn’t now and won’t for decades.

The satellites aren’t stationary. They are synchronized in orbit COMPARED TO THE EARTH. They are still moving at thousands of miles per hour and capable of maneuvering on top of that.

Detection matters because ever at 1 mile per two seconds, shooting over a distance of a thousand miles means over half an hour to reach its target. And all that target has to do is move a couple feet in any direction and that shot becomes nothing but a maneuvering hazard in deep space.

Then again one would have to know the target and consider the distance of the attacking device which could easily be yards if need be! Then again we are arguing single projectile when logic begs that an attack would be a burst device.

Maneuvering any satellite within yards of any other satellite in geosynchronous orbit means telegraphing your intentions well in advance.

Burst fire is even more stupid than using a single shot. Is your intention to cause Kessler Syndrome?

I think that might be a scenario to some! But the point you're missing again is "First strike" would be impossible to defend against with the technology in orbit today! This only elevates the need for defensive capability within that region of sensitivity and vulnerability!

May be this is the defining moment the left could actually use logic and support this goal of the President!

What kind of first strike are you talking about?

The vast majority of military and intelligence satellites operate at orbits dozens or hundreds of times higher than the highest satellite interception to date.

The best defense a satellites has is its maneuverability. And the US Air Force Space Command already handles that function.

Holy balls bro, you really that out of tough with real life? Communication disruption would devastate this country!

You clearly are not worth the time spent in this discussion, either you are playing or you really are as you appear to be!

Another time and maybe a much less complicated topic, maybe something like "Trumps diddles whores" or something easy like that man!
