Wait a minute! Consumption taxes are a conservative favorite.

Redressing trade balancs will cost consumers more in the short run

But it will be good for American workers and America overall

I was listening to the Washington Journal and a snowflake from the Heritage Foundation defended free trade in part because it was raising the standard of living for poor people in foreign countries

As if that should be the first priority of American trade policy

These people are already getting a huge discount having their homes built by illegal aliens, so seriously... Who gives a ****?

That might be kinda true if a few things were also true.
1- We had enough labor to build everything our self. We don't.
2- If we sold the stuff we make only in America. We don't.
3- If we only bought the stuff made in America. We won't.

I'd thought we'd gotten a substitute but not yet. Been out of the business too long. Even at that it still only adds 51/2% to the price of a house.

1 We have unused labor sitting on the sidelines drawing welfare

So fewer illegal aliens means more job oppertunities for Americans whether they want to work or not

2 we sell every little to other countries compared to what we buy

Our annual trade deficit is almost one trillion dollars

3 is really the same as 2

We used to make everything we needed in America and could do so again

That and a negotiating tool for intransigent twits that have gotten use to American leaders selling out the American people over the years and aren't willing just yet to back away from the hog trough. Now that they are aware that Trump is serious maybe they will deal.

You do understand the majority of those people are already working. Right?
You do understand many are simply in beween jobs?

Don't you think if those were such good jobs you would see more white guys standing on the corner looking for a day job? :)

Over 30% of US sales are to foreign countries. It may be over 40% now.

    Yep.

No, it is not if we still buy it even if it costs more.

We could, why would you want to?

but even Oregon is expanding its housing zones, no one is arguing that they should not create more homes.. unless of course you can name any politician who is saying that

Some women work the minimum to qualify for the unEarned Income Tax Credit

And there are a growing number of lazy white guys who should be working but are not

You mean the people without insurance right? Of course existing home sales stand to increase, which isn't exactly a bad thing. Abandoned foreclosed homes depress real estate values, and become a public blight.

Insurance provides some money to rebuild
It does not inherently change the strength or fire resistance of the rebuilding

Single family homes are inefficient anyway. They're a sign of selfish capitalism and a consumer society. We should all live in state run apartment buildings made of cement where we can fit 10 people into 1,000 square feet.
