I thought that you were saying that now that he won his case, ANYONE can use religion as a valid excuse.
You will notice religion and religious practice is a protected class by not only the First Amendment to the Constitution as a constitutional right but also Codified in the Civil Rights Act. Alas LGBT is simply not there. That puts them in the same category as folks with red hair or thick mustaches and bushy eyebrows.
It's his right, it's the public's right to go elsewhere lest they get a cake that tastes like cardboard.
Every court and commission in the land has a duty to UPHOLD the United States Constitution and The Supreme Court told this JOKE of a commission that they were in violation of it! And you say that they were "barely admonished?" Surely you can't be serious!
Yeah, so my point is that this only applies to religious people. How do you suppose a secular baker would've gone in this case? Not very well I don't think. This is where The Constitution may be limited.
No. He isn't. He's refusing to create a new cake, specially made and not presently in his store. He was, and presumably still is, quite willing to sell anyone, including the gay couple that sued him the first time, anything that was already made and sitting in his store. He's not saying that he will not serve gays, trans, etc. He simply refused to bake a non existent special cake for those occasions that he didn't agree with. Knight
Not that it should matter even if he did refuse to sell them anything in his store. This is suppose to be America after all, where you should get to decide who your customers are.
I repeat: what concrete consequences to the apparently malicious violators of constitutional rights occurred? Jail? Fines? Did they pay his attorneys fees and costs of appealing all the way to scotus? Which is ruinously expensive? Eh?
You don’t get to pick and choose what someone twists the Bible to say but verses have been twisted to argue against interracial marriage. Here is a few arguments. The Bible also says very little to nothing depending on which scholar you listen to about modern day same sex relations but that hasn’t stopped the hate against them. Futhermore the poster I was talking to was arguing that choice is the determining factor in whether discrimination should be allowed. Religion as a whole and marriage in general are choices.
So mouthy about forcing Christians to bake cakes, not a peep about this: WOW! Facebook Sued After Blocking Housing Ads to Blacks and Minorities
In regards to a wedding cake? You would also believe that the baker should be able to refuse based on race. Wouldn't you?
Oh right, so you mean that because it doesn't say anything about sexual orientation. Sure, but the anti-discrimination laws that protect homosexuals are STATE laws aren't they? You're talking about Federal law.
I don’t believe any group should be able to force someone else’s labor. And the anti-gay idiots routinely confuse same sex relations with child rape. The current law is suggesting this, that’s currently how the system is set up in numerous places.
