Keeping women in the home barefoot and pregnant is "righteous and pure." Maybe during the caveman era.

Indeed. Their kind belongs on the trash heap of history, along with all the other reactionary, paranoid, discredited ideas that the right wallows in these days.

In his signature book, The Art of the Deal, Donald Trump boasted that when he wanted to build a casino in Atlantic City, he persuaded the state attorney general to limit the investigation of his background to six months. Most potential owners were scrutinized for more than a year. Trump argued that he was “clean as a whistle”—young enough that he hadn’t had time to get into any sort of trouble. He got the sped-up background check, and eventually got the casino license.

But Trump was not clean as a whistle. Beginning three years earlier, he’d hired mobbed-up firms to erect Trump Tower and his Trump Plaza apartment building in Manhattan, including buying ostensibly overpriced concrete from a company controlled by mafia chieftains Anthony “Fat Tony” Salerno and Paul Castellano.

That story eventually came out in a federal investigation, which also concluded that in a construction industry saturated with mob influence, the Trump Plaza apartment building most likely benefited from connections to racketeering. Trump also failed to disclose that he was under investigation by a grand jury directed by the U.S. attorney in Brooklyn, who wanted to learn how Trump obtained an option to buy the Penn Central railroad yards on the West Side of Manhattan.

    snip

In all, I’ve covered Donald Trump off and on for 27 years, and in that time I’ve encountered multiple threads linking Trump to organized crime. Some of Trump’s unsavory connections have been followed by investigators and substantiated in court; some haven’t. And some of those links have continued until recent years, though when confronted with evidence of such associations, Trump has often claimed a faulty memory.

In an April 27 phone call to respond to my questions for this story, Trump told me he did not recall many of the events recounted in this article and they “were a long time ago.” He also said that I had “sometimes been fair, sometimes not” in writing about him, adding “if I don’t like what you write, I’ll sue you.”

I’m not the only one who has picked up signals over the years. Wayne Barrett, author of a 1992 investigative biography of Trump’s real-estate dealings, has tied Trump to mob and mob-connected men.

One of the ironies is that the Penn Central freight yard was something that Fred Trump really really wanted. He saw it, and the potential to use it to gentrify the lower West Side from Columbus Circle north, as a way to cement the Trump real estate empire and establish the Trump name permanently in Manhattan.

Fred Trump, like many other developers, was busy trying to get their hands on the considerable real estate assets of the bankrupt Penn Central railroad, which had extensive holding in New York.

One of the earliest successes was the sale of the New York Central Railroad to Harry Helmsley.

Another was the redevelopment of the Commodore Hotel, young Donald's public debut (althought it was primarily Fred's deal).

But Trump squandered it, as he does most everything else.

He proposed several outlandish projects, none of which were anything more than hot air. He could never get the financing.

In the end, he would up selling Hudson Yards to Asian investors for $1.8 billion.

Which is 400 million MORE than his stated net worth in 2017.

LIke everything else in Donald Trump's world, this too is a story of decadence and dissapation.

Trump has set a new record for the hugest debt ever recorded, and the right doesn't seem to care, funny how that works

At this point I do not care that Trump is accused of "attacking gold star families and war heroes". After seeing how low democrats will stoop I believe a requirement for future Republican candidates should be the willingness to kick an old lady holding a kitten down a flight of stairs if need be. Republicans are going to have to toughen up and be willing to fight back against democrat lies and corruption.

    I don't tolerate wrong answers.

It is not wise to tolerate things that are stupid, self defeating, anti social or wrong.
The correct thing to do is be discouraging of these things at the very least.
Dismissive, ignoring, ridiculing or hostile responses should also give the person advocating them pause for thought.

Obviously non Trump supporters won't be as likely to agree that Trump is good for their country. They might be to sour to even agree he is highly altruistic.
In many ways America is a country of enemies.
Two rival powers fighting for control over a country.

The Sunni vs Shia of the USA.

You realize I didn’t say EVERYTHING under the sun should be tolerated, right?
To have ‘no time’ for someone who simply doesn’t like the president is beyond silly and childish. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the OP didn’t like Obama. But of course THAT was ok. We go through this every administration. There always have been and always will be people who don’t like a sitting president. That’s a fact.

    I agree.
Obama hate was routinely taken to the ridiculous too.

The core difference between Obama blind hate and Trump blind hate has been the media.

Obama was loved by the media and Trump is hated by it.

So we get a very different impression on the levels of TDS.
We also get a greater sense of denial by the TDS'ers as they had been led not to expect any of this.
It has come as a greater shock.

Obama's election on the other hand was widely expected and warmly reported.

So although the level of stupid acrimony Trump gets is no worse than Obama got, the volume level of it is much higher. Because the left owns the media.
