If the shoe fits .. the shoe fits. It is not the fault of the observer that the God of the OT is depicted as a xenophobic, irrational, flip flopping genocidal maniac. It is however abject mindless denial to not see that the "meanie" shoe fits.
There still isn't even a speck of evidence to show that your little god exists, dooms. All you got is some Bronze Age stories. A lot of really, really smart people think that you've been duped, man … massively duped.
By the way, tomorrow I'll continue my relentless search for the baby jesus. he could be out there … somewhere...
You chose not to answer ANY of my points. And you can’t point to a single “godless society” that we are living with that proves any thing at all regarding your point. If you’re not going to answer questions and posit without evidence, why are we having this conversation?
And all atheists have is hatred and bigotry toward religion. What do these "smart people" have to offer society? I keep hearing atheists mention logic and reason. Sorry but that does not cut it. The childish arguments against God is not enough for folks to completely forget about a philosophy that has survived and thrived for centuries. As far as I can tell atheists believe that is religion goes away all people will suddenly rely on logic and reason. Not gonna happen.
None of those places were free of religion. You have no examples of any societies that were without any religions. Any suggestion that people without religion are worse off is without evidence.
So based on your earlier examples, if insects or livestock percieve humans (the superior beings in this case) as mean, they have a warped perception? Or do you only apply it to humans that percieve that about God because you've been told He is good?
And religious societies have had their examples of violence as well. Both sides simply do what is necessary to eliminate competition. Besides, Stalin, Mao Zedong, and Pol Pot did not create sapient life and thrust upon them (without their concent), the needless ability to disobey them, which could cause them to suffer for eternity. Also, loyal communists often benefited from these societies. Anyone who obeys God would be like them, with God as the dictator in this case.
Technically, they've built a "Juche" cult around the Kim family, so it's a pseudo-theorcracy. And when it comes to failed societies, the problem isn't whether or not they follow God. It's about a combination of meeting basic needs (food, clothing, clean water, etc.) loyalty, and a strong commitment to clear, set ideals. Nazi Germany is no less viable than conservative America. The difference is that one favors unity, and the other favors "freedom" (social anarchy). Societies fail because people are allowed to deviate from the core principals, or they don't put down opposition effectively enough. Not because they are "godless". If anything, God allows the deviation from him.
Something else I might as well add here. Why do religions such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam continue to thrive? I sometimes wonder why humans find these in particular so wonderful. No sex before marriage. The people say "yes". No pork. The people still say "yes". No alchohol, the people say "yes" yet again. I can't fathom under what circumstances any human being in history chose to accept these religions in the first place. There's of course following them when someone is raised in a specific culture, but how is it possible this started to begin with? Belief in an afterlife could have easily existed without the restrictions found in these religions, so saying people merely followed them out of comfort doesn't apply.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_North_Korea Looks like you’re wrong. So, you can pray in NK. God can’t go there? Sorry, that’s a massive fail. So, are you going to name the nameless godless society or not?
Looking for Mr. God You are barking up the wrong tree....God is obviously female. Who else can be so cunningly vindictive and sadistic.
The God of the OT makes a rule - "Children are not to be punished for the sins of their parents". This God then turns around and has the Israelites kill children and babies - "Because of the sins of their parents". You are welcome to your opinion that killing children and babies under this pretext is not warped / or nasty/mean. I just do not share it.
Perhaps you do not believe in evolution. Humans were not always as civilized as today. Back in those days humans were basically animals. Of course modern day humans would see them as barbaric savages.
Your comments are exactly why the God of the OT is depicted as he is. What you are saying is that it was it was humans who created the God of the OT and they did so according to the norms of the day. I agree 100%.
Religion in North Korea Religion in North Korea[1] Non-religious (64.3%) Korean shamanism (16%) Chondoism (13.5%) Buddhism (4.5%) Christianity (1.7%) There are no known official statistics of religions in North Korea. Based on estimates from the late 1990s[2]and the 2000s,[1][3] North Korea is mostly irreligious, with the religious life dominated by the traditions of Korean shamanism and Chondoism. There are small communities of Buddhists and Christians. Chondoism is represented in politics by the Party of the Young Friends of the Heavenly Way,[4] and is regarded by the government as Korea's "national religion"[5] because of its identity as a minjung (popular)[6] and "revolutionary anti-imperialist" movement.[4] There is religion in NK. Do you plan to show a godless society?
