Obama can't get anything done and legislates with executive orders. Trump follows suit. Is this any way to run a democracy?

The EU is falling apart. Largely because hoi poloi are dissatisfied with the results of globalization.

Maybe you are on a dead end street.

Canada's entire export market doesn't match our machinery exports alone. We can squash them like a bug and they have picked a fight they can't win.

Trump used executive orders to undo Obama executive orders and the results are self evident. It's funny to watch Obama desperately try to take credit for the economic turnaround that undoing his policies ushered in.

The Euro Zone is in trouble, but there's no real alternative to the customs union, hence the free trade agreements with China, Canada.

You just won't learn. Trump hasn't put in place policies that will change our economic growth rate over the long term.

    Yeah I'll stick with soared.

Manufacturing jobs growing at fastest rate in 23 years

Job gains for the manufacturing industry in the last 12 months are the most since 1995
    • Over the past year through July, U.S. manufacturing added 327,000 jobs, the most of any 12-month period since April 1995, when the figure added a healthy 345,000 positions.
    • U.S. manufacturers produced about $6 trillion in gross output in 2017, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Yet obama desperately tries to take credit. Dumping bad trade deals is long term. Lower taxes on corporations is long term. More reasonable environmental standards is long term.

Manufacturing Product for profit is certainly better than manufacturing paper for profit.
We should tax the two profits differently.

Just another BRAVO Trump :applause: event.

I disagree. After Trudeau Canadians became hyphenated Canadians, just as is now happening in the US. Not all Canadians saw themselves as British but all conceded that their political roots and systems were based on British laws and customs.
What did 'repatriating the Constitution actually do? And the 'Bill of Rights' has a 'notwithstanding clause' allows it to be overturned at any time, and has been. "Hate Laws' are a good example of that.

As far as 'Canadian identity' goes there really is none anymore, and even Justin acknowledges that.. Is it a 'Canadian culture' or a multi-culture'? It's now become provincial identity, or pockets of identity, more than anything else.

A look at reality: Do they need the country that takes 76% of their exports?
Also shown is each import country's percentage of total Canadian exports.
    • United States: US$319.6 billion (76% of total Canadian exports)
    • China: $18.2 billion (4.3%)
    • United Kingdom: $13.6 billion (3.2%)
    • Japan: $9.1 billion (2.2%)
    • Mexico: $6 billion (1.4%)
    • South Korea: $4 billion (1%)
    • India: $3.2 billion (0.8%)

It appears that the United States is much better at assimilation. Only 22% of American Indians live on reservations or trust lands Pakistanis stuffed in ghettos, Indians stuffed into reservations, perhaps Canada is not all that progressive.

Who cares? Obama didn't even propose important policy changes that would improve long-term growth.
But Trump is "dumping" good deals, or at least threatening to dump them.
The one good thing he's done.
    He's gone too far.

Resorting to personnal attack now. Watch it, those are against the rules here.

I would just add, that What I hate is when somebody believe himself superior to another just because of an incident of birth with no real personnal achievements or knowledge of what other countries, nations or cultures are about. Sir, if you don't know about something either learn about it before passing judgement. You are powerless, your opinion doesn't matter and you'll never have any power to influence anything. This is probably why, you and a few other here, have to ressort to childish trolling instead of actual political and policies discussion as you can't accept the fact that your whole existance will amount to so little in the end. Your names won't appear in any history books and you'll fade away having accomplished nothing.

Yep. You see we DELIBERATELY entered into an economic partnership with the US after ww2. We were friends and allies and shared a continent. Made mucho sense and BOTH nations have benefited greatly from it.

Now it seems we may need to re=architect our economy and our trade strategy and re=examine our relationship with the US.

CETA, and TPP and bilateral negotiations with a number of other countries is just the start.

If NAFTA goes down, we will no doubt be seriously hurt as will you. If your measure of winning is you hurt the other guy more than they hurt you, then you will have "won" the fight you decided to pick with us.

Gotta admit would have been a brilliant trumpian MAGA strategy if it worked, but there ain't much of a chance if trump doesn't soon acquire some common sense. He seems to have underestimated the national character and will of your closest neighbor. WE stand up to bullies, laugh at the stupid and don't turtle in a fight.
