As noted above, that's not the problem nor the solution.

Fine. Do you think political extremism exists? If not, why not? If so, do you have some examples?

A good point of view. Yes, there is lot of hatred, but it isn't coming from moderates or those here for entertainment. It comes from the political extremists, paid political trolls and others with an agenda to support one point of view while seeking to destroy all opposition using methods such as those previously described.

The hatred comes from partisans who take themselves too seriously.

That's what I'm thinking too but I object to the term. First when most people think of right wing nut jobs they are usually thinking of Neo nazis and klansmen and the like never mind that the difference between them and socialists are essentially nil save for the racist crap.

That would be one source, but not the only one.

Fear can create hate as part of the fight or flight response. No doubt you've noted that many of our loudest posters are over 70. Most are retired, possibly in a retirement facility and, if so, surrounded by people whose brains are fading or are dying of an ailment or simply forgotten by their families. This can create a lot of fear and, therefore, hate.

LWLs are the direct polar opposites of RWNJs. Left Wing Loonies and Right Wing Nut Jobs. They are more that just people who are aligned politically left or right, they are extremists.

Correct guess on the acronym but why would you be proud of being a political extremist? Don't you find that antithetical to being a good American? Hating with a vengeance about half of American voters?

Can you not give me an example of what you are talking about? Otherwise I'm grasping at straws.
Is it extreme in your eyes to control our borders? Or perhaps it is extreme in your eyes to have no control over the border?
Is a moderate going to go half and half and say we can control some areas and let other areas go uncontrolled.

Throwing out a whole original post blasting extreme views without giving a person a clue on what is extreme is really saying nothing at all.

    No worries then. Grasp away.

Ahhh, I see you do know what a political extremist is. No, it's not extreme to control our borders. As a matter of fact, it's part of defending our nation. Now, some politically extreme nutjobs will take that little seed and turn it into an excuse to machine gun families trying to swim the Rio Grande. Those that do are examples of political extremists.

If that's what it takes to be an extremist, there are none of those with any influence whatsoever.

Some have advocated it along with landmines....they claim to be right-wingers, conservatives and Republicans, but they completely dodge the eminent domain issues along with the expected number of Americans killed who accidentally hit a mine field. Political extremists almost always have a very narrow view of reality and hate to be confronted with real world issues on their ideas.

It's as easy to recognize extremists as it is to recognize racists. They will be the first ones to use the words "extremist' or 'racist'.

That may be... but they have NO voice in American politics. Unlike the radical leftist nutjobs, who are driving the Democrat bus.

I find it very very ironic that YOU are quoting Barry Goldwater.

I don't know if you are entirely familiar with the full historical context of his campaign.

Why do you think it's ironic I quote Barry Goldwater? I'm a Goldwater Republican....nowadays called RINO because we don't toe the line on religion and abortion.

Shall I quote Goldwater about religion?....or do you remember that speech too?

Absolutely! Anyone who advocates harming fellow Americans for political reasons is obviously a political extremist. Same goes for those assclowns who scream "Kill the pigs!"

I think you are far right, further right than what is best for our nation just like I think there are your polar opposites who are the same. Spreading hate, rancor, biased accusations and declaring the opposition to be the enemy of America can never end well nor best for our nation. OTOH, disagreeing and telling a person they are full of **** is normal. :)

I hate ideas not people. I defend people against what I consider to be biased accusations. These days that's mostly Trump. As a Goldwater Republican you aren't the problem in no small part because those are really no longer extant as far as people in positions of power are concerned. The ground yours used to hold down is now largely occupied by neo cons. Neocons are not Goldwater Republicans. Their roots are more with the old Scoop Jackson Democrats. In most regards they are the antithesis of Goldwater Conservatives.
