Violence is half what it was during the '90s. Seems to me that we need to keep doing what we have been doing.

 

So what your saying is, there is an acceptable amount of violence or are you getting your gun rights arguement going early? I will stop you there? I am pro 2nd amendment.

 

You asked the question: "when are we going to stop the violence?".

I merely pointed out that what we're currently doing has the violence trending in the right direction.

A better question might be: "When are we going to stop the violent?"

 

Can’t do much about the violent until the commit violence. Such is our justice system.

But if you think you have identified the root cause, then ask why. Why is there violent individuals?

 

Therein lies the rub. Instituting zero tolerance for violence, and then segregating the violent from peaceable society until they are no longer violent, is how you stop the violence to the greatest extent possible.

 

Because Homo Sapiens have a violent streak. It’s not a glitch.... it’s a feature.

 

Why are there violent individuals?

Why are there predatory plants?

Why are there omnivores?

Corrective action would be to cull the violent from the gene pool. I don't think we want to go there, do we?

There are 7 billion people on this earth. At least half of them are *******s. Yes. The is such a thing as an acceptable amount of violence. We are doing better then we have in half a century. That doesn’t mean events like this aren’t any less tragic. It’s just fact.

The way to segregate the violent is to increase prison sentences, do away with parole, make the death penalty universal, increase the types of crimes that are covered by the death sentence, and reduce the appeals window for death sentences.

 

Yeah then you’ll be banning knives, acid, etc.

Nonsense, it just makes a violent persons victims less capable of proper self defense.

Not to mention a large percentage of this country would simply start killing people like you the moment you tried to enact any sort of law even minutely resembling this.

 

Well the Judeo-Christian God is violent! God made man in his "image". If God is violent, we must also be in order to please God and get into heaven. If we do not continue to please God by continuing our violence he will destroy the earth with water, fire, or wind. If that fails a big comet or asteroid.
